James T. Weaver, 79

September 30, 2023

“I lived and then I died”-JW

James T. “Jim” Weaver, 79, AKA Pop-Pop, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, 9/30/23. He was born in Lancaster to the late Robert R. and Josephine M. (Ottiger) Weaver. He was married 59 years to his beloved wife Sue (Minnich) Weaver.

Jim graduated from Warwick High School and Stevens Trade with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a self-employed carpenter and could build/fix anything. He retired from Clair Brothers in 2006, but continued work in his workshop, on his ‘55 Chevy, and renovating the family cabin “The Shak”. He loved Genesse beer, nature, his grandchildren and family (not necessarily in that order).

He had a unique sense of humor, yet was a man of few words. Always a teacher, he made every conversation count. He lived life to the fullest, creating a party wherever he went. Anyone who met Jim had an instant and loyal friend. He was a member of the American Legion Post #56 and the Sons of Italy.

In addition to his wife Sue, he is survived by 3 children: Timothy J. Weaver (Elizabeth Bjelica), Michael S. Weaver (Suzie Miller), and Dr. Nicole Zimmerman Cesavice (Josh); brother Robert R. Weaver, sister Babs Weaver Tribble (Jim), 11 grandchildren: Justus (Haley Kurz), Bryce, Peyton (Aaron Lenning), Dylan, Brady, Alec, Kyle, Breanna, Taylor, Dominic, and Koby; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and furbabies. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Carole (Ressler) Weaver and niece Renae Weaver.

Celebration of Life will be 10/21/23 at Sue’s house. Contact family for address.

Donations in Jim’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org, or Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Dr, Lancaster PA 17601.

A good man to know with a great sense of humor and always there to help his friends as needed. Part of our mountain family where many good times were shared and stories told. He loved our annual pig roasts in the mountains before deer season where friends would gather to enjoy the peace and happiness of being away from daily responsibilities and enjoy life in a magnificent setting. We will miss you Jim and appreciate all those special times spent in your company.

Jim was a good neighbor to us in the valley, when he was at “The Shak.” Dad & Dwain (Phillippi) enjoyed visiting with him & catching up with him (& Bob) when they met up again in the spring. He will be missed. Sending condolences for all the family.
