James W. Stauffer
February 21, 2024
A life well lived.
Jim and his wife Sue were married on February 24, 1963. They shared a marriage filled with commitment and unconditional love which continues to be an example for their family. They attended Calvary Church in Lancaster. Jim leaned on his faith in the challenging times of his life. He was generous, humble, and kind to everyone whether they were a family member, friend, business associate, employee, or acquaintance.
Jim’s priority was to love and care for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family vacations were some of his most sensational memories. His hobbies included boating, waterskiing, and gardening. One of his personal passions was growing daylilies. Jim’s daylily garden tours at his home attracted a large crowd of avid gardeners. He sent each person home with a starter lily and many of his original plants are blooming in gardens throughout the county.
Jim was the son of Stauffers of Kissel Hill founders, Roy Sr., and Florence Stauffer. During his career in the family business, Jim developed the landscape and nursery division. He was also responsible for land development and construction of the company’s properties. His career was one of commitment, tenacity, integrity, and a passion to serve customers with excellence. Jim retired from the family business in 2005.
Jim will be greatly missed, and his legacy of love will continue through his family. He is survived by his wife Sue Ann Stauffer. Daughter Jennifer Keefer & her husband Jeff, granddaughter Alyssa Murray & her husband Brandon (their sons James & Lukas), and granddaughter Jacqueline Wile & her husband Kevin (their daughters Hailey & Quinn)
Son Eric Stauffer & his wife Carolyn, grandson Dylan Stauffer (his sons Dylan & Bryson), and granddaughter Brooke Biemesderfer and her husband Kobi
Daughter Gwen Will and her husband Mark, grandson Christian Will and his wife Elizabeth (their son Hayden, daughters Nora and Chloe), grandson Austin Will and his wife Katie, and granddaughters Tara Will and Keyla Will.
He is also survived by his brothers Earl Stauffer and Paul Stauffer (wife Valerie), his sisters Martha Garber (husband James), Jean Eby (husband Richard) and Shirley Burris (husband Frank) and brother-in-law, Jay Oberholtzer. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers Roy Stauffer Jr., Robert Stauffer; his sisters, Dorothy Tweed, Ruth Denlinger, Mary Sweigart and Rhoda Oberholtzer.

March 27, 2024 I was sorry to hear of Jim’s homegoing! Health reasons prevented my attendance at the memorial, but was thinking of him and the family. I have always been thankful for Jim bringing me from northwestern PA to a job in the Lititz/Leola Landscape Division. He put up with a lot during my learning process! I directly attribute that event with my process of coming to Christ through the people that I worked with. So, even the employment of people is a ministry and, looking back, Jim providing my job was a direct and long term influence on my entire life. I often am thankful for that. Just wanted the family to know of at least one life that he influenced in this way. Thanks Jim, for all you did for me. I regret that I didn’t express it before, but I know I will have the opportunity to do so in Heaven some day, and I expect this message will get to him before that! Steve Kocher (Debbie too!)

What a beautiful tribute! I had a lot of respect for Jim as a businessman and with our dealings with him in the nursery business, always helpful and a good thinker.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Stauffer family. As the Correspondence/Remembrance chair of the Lititz Woman’s Club, I did send condolences to Gwen, who is a member, and to the family. I was a Warwick High School teacher, and loved having Jennifer as my English student when she was a senior. I continued a relationship both during my days as an administrator at Conestoga Valley when her daughters were students there and then years thereafter. I certainly was aware of the entire Stauffer family and your contributions to our community. I am sorry for the loss of your beloved family member. May sweet memories lead to peace for all of you.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Deann Buffington

I didn’t know Jim for a long time, but he had the blessed capacity to make me feel as if we were best buddies from long ago. So much warmth. I am ever so grateful we got to cross paths. There must be a legion of us who feel the same way.

I’m sure Jim is enjoying the gardens in heaven. I wonder if there are “day”lillies in heaven, maybe they are forever lillies. Your dad was a thoughtful mentor in business. I learned to always be prepared and have a backup! He is surely missed. Don Oberholtzer
