April 3, 1940 - July 03, 2015
Coach Jay Carl loved by his family and friends went home to be with his Lord on July 3, 2015. Born in Lancaster, PA on April 3, 1940 he was the son of the late Henry Wilson Carl and June Barr.
Jay was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to those who knew him. He was a very dedicated coach for over 30 years to the youth of Lancaster City. He was heavily involved with the Conestoga Sertoma Chargers/Jr. Tornadoes midget football program and he was also a valuable member of the J. P. McCaskey staff and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed fellowshipping and working alongside the members of the Community Fellowship Church. Jay always had strong opinions and was very passionate about sharing then with loved ones. He was an avid reader of history and mythology and loved jogging, riding his bicycle and giving nicknames to those he cared about. Jay was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State, and St. John’s University fan. He retired from Yellow Freight after 30 years as a truck driver and dock worker. Jay proudly served his country in the US Navy with fond memories of seeing the world.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Brosey) Carl, son James Skip Carl of Lancaster, PA; daughter-in-law Trish Carl of Lancaster, PA; four sisters Linda Wise of New York, Karen Rohrer and husband Doug of Lititz, PA, Debra Heiney and Bonnie Plummer both of Florida; seven grandchildren Shannon M. Carl, James Skip Collier Carl, Jamique A. Carl, Ian Wallace, Darryl Hannah, Jafohn A. Carl and Josiah Carl; a host of great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son Jay Brian Carl whom he longed to be reunited with along with his mother June in heaven.

I’ll miss seeing Mr. Carl around CFC. While I worked there as Youth Pastor he would, from time to time, grab me by the arm and draw me close to ask how his grandsons were doing and making sure they were acting right. Haha. He demonstrated a sincere love for his extended family that was a beautiful example for our church. He will be greatly missed.
