Jay E. Kline, 18
Jay E. Kline,79, of Leola, PA died December 1, 2010 at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Edward H. and Marie Eisenberger Kline. Jay was the husband of Gladys Saturno Kline who died August 14, 2010.
Jay worked for Halpern where he managed a store Deli. Later he worked for Kunzler as a salesman and was awarded the Victor Award for Sales. Lastly he opened and owned the former Kelly’s Korner Deli, and then Kelly’s Deli. He was a hard worker and worked since he was a very young person. He loved people and that is probably why he was successful in his businesses and as a salesman. He loved his family deeply and always provided well for them.
He and his late wife, Gladys celebrated their 50th wedding in June of this year. Due to her health problems she had to live in a skilled care nursing facility, so they were living apart for 3 years and he really missed her. Unfortunately they did not get to spend a lot of time traveling or doing things when he retired because of this. Now they are once again reunited.
His sense of humor and joking will be missed as he loved to laugh and tease those he liked and loved. His presence in her life will be missed dearly by his daughter.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leola. He served in the Korean War in the US Army.
Surviving is his daughter, Kelly Kline, Lancaster, a sister, Betty Applebach, Lancaster and a nephew, Doug Ginder. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Kevin Ginder.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 10:00AM with the Rev. Newell Embley officiating. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may view at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9-10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jay’s memory to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, Pa 17603, or Alzheimer’s Association, South Central PA Chapter, 3544 N. Kelly, I am so sorry for your loss and I know how much you will miss your dad especially so soon after your mother’s passing.
He was a wonderful man, always so kind to me and my family. It had been such a long stretch since I had spoken to him but I thought of him just days ago because he was always so interested in how my children were doing and my granddaughter Faith who thought the world of him because of he never failed to give her a sweet when he saw her. I was looking forward to talking to him but I was a day late.
It’s always sad to lose someone as kind and as gentle a person as your dad was, but I hope you take comfort in the thought of him reunited with your mom and with both of them together at peace.
