Jeffrey Lee Stauffer

January 17, 2025

Jeffrey Lee “Jeff” Stauffer, 65, of Lititz, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior, Friday, Jan. 17. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Jay Thomas and Betsy Jo Haines Stauffer. He was a 1977 graduate of Warwick High School, where he met his sweetheart and true love, Vickie Zercher Stauffer. They were married for 42 amazing years.

Admired for his woodworking skills and craftsmanship, Jeff built a successful business, Stauffer Cabinetry, that took him up and down the east coast installing fine custom cabinets. He built three of his own homes in the Lititz area, including a very unique yurt he designed and assembled himself.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Jeff loved spending time in nature; hunting whitetail and other game, fishing secluded mountain streams and hiking through deep snow tracking a buck. He shot and carried out his last whitetail with his favorite muzzleloading long rifle a week before his passing.

Regarded for his risk-taking tendencies, he never shied away from adventure. Riding his motorcycle on the BDR trails, finding the steepest black diamond tree skiing runs in Vermont, or chasing his son down a gnarly mountain bike trail. His body was a tree magnet on some of those occasions, resulting in many injuries, much to his wife’s chagrin.

Coastal Maine was Jeff’s happy place, his home away from home. He loved taking in the sunset on the porch of his aunt and uncle’s cottage on Gun Point Cove, watching the work boats on the water, and steaming a pot of freshly caught lobster for dinner.

An avid conversationalist, he could often be found at his favorite coffee shops in Lititz, recalling stories, making friends, and of course catching up with the latest news. He always had time to talk, even when he didn’t.

It would seem erroneous not to mention that Jeff had an enthusiastic passion for motorized vehicles. “As often as one changes underwear,” he regularly returned home with a new car, motorcycle, or boat.

More than all these things, Jeff loved his family. He could always find a reason to get his family together; for a steak cookout, a blueberry pancake breakfast with his homemade maple syrup, or just to sit and talk together. The life of the party, he was never too shy to throw in some of his favorite dance moves. Being a goofball was second nature, and making his seven grandkids laugh brought him joy. “Pepa Jeff” and “Papoo,” as he was affectionately called, took being a husband, father and grandfather to a level that left a lasting legacy, never to be forgotten.

Lastly, but most importantly, Jeff was a man of unwavering faith. For all that knew him, his walk with the Lord was evident in many ways. His selfless demeanor always shone bright with a smile, hug, and genuine care and compassion. Sharing the love of his Savior was always on his heart. His final desire in this life was that God be given the Glory in all things, the good and the bad.

Surviving besides his wife is his daughter, Erin, wife of Otto Monroy of Dillsburg, his son Cody, husband of Dashia Stauffer of Manheim, and seven grandchildren; two brothers: Jay Thomas, husband of Cindy Stauffer of Lititz and David Stauffer of Colorado; and three sisters: Kathy, wife of Michael Yoder of Liberty, KY., Sue, wife of Ray Leed, and Debra, wife of Brad Eidemiller, both of Lititz.

Memorial Services will be held at 10AM, Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Grace Church, 501 W. Lincoln Ave., Lititz, PA 17543. Visitation will follow the service at the church.

Dear Vickie, Erin, Cody and Stauffer family,
I’m so sorry about the death of Jeff. His photo here is a treasure of his own personal warmth and of family likeness. I can see my Uncle Tom smiling and joking with his brothers and sister. Days at the Kutztown fair, your family camp in PA (inner tubes in the creek and copperheads!) and camping in DE / VA are memories of happy times. Your family especially was a source of pride for evident artisanship and sportsman skills. Blessings from VT in your time of grief, cousin Kathy

My deepest sympathy for your loss. Jeff was my neighbor for a few years. He actually built the house next to me on lake drive. He was such a nice guy. Always willing to help. He gave me and my last husband a stove and water heater.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Jeff’s family. Having met most of the Stauffer family over the years thru Stacey who was married to Dave way back when and my husband Jeff would ask Jeff for help on a project when he worked for L&B. Nicest family I ever knew. So sorry he’s gone🙏💔

Jeff, our brother from another mother (and father). Our families grew up together and shared many memorable vacations at Chincoteague – camping in the brown former bread truck – I thought it was the coolest thing ever!!! The Stauffer’s made everything fun. I feel so blessed to have them in my life!! Jeff was a good man, father, brother, husband, grandfather, friend. His smile will be forever in my heart. RIP JEFF. You are forever loved.

Vickie (and family), we were so shocked to hear of Jeff’s passing. I did not know Jeff as well as Mike but the obit that I just read was so spot on of how I remember him. He was always full of life and it was fun catching up with him when we stopped to get a picture of your yurt this summer. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sorrowful time.

We are blessed to be your neighbors and so grateful to have gotten to know you both in the past few years. For the many neighborly chats we had, prayers, support and listening ears offered in difficulty, helping hands provided, firewood donated to our campfires, advice and encouragement given to our sons, lively political discussions and opinions shared, laughter filling the air as you watched your TV shows in the yurt:) and I could go on… For the strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ that you shared and lived out each day, we thank you for your example to our family.  We send our love and prayers to you, Vickie and family.  We will miss Jeff, but we rejoice in knowing that we will see him again in glory and that he is free from pain and sorrow in the presence of Jesus.  Till we meet again may we share the hope we have in Jesus with those around us as Jeff did so passionately.    The Young Family,  John, Lori, Anthony, Taylor, Kyle and Alex
