Joan Lentz, 92

Joan Lentz, 92, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Elwood Van Fossen and Marguerite Guiles. Joan was married over 67 years to her beloved husband Charles E. Lentz prior to his passing in 2022.

Joan was a graduate of Roxborough High School. She worked many years in the education and restaurant industry, dedicating her time as a school café worker and a waitress at Baffa’s Restaurant. Joan was also a gifted ceramics artist, enjoyed knitting, and loved visiting places like Colonial Williamsburg, VA and Ocean City, NJ. Joan had a particular affinity for children and animals. She was devoted to her family and her church community.

Joan is survived by her 3 children: Joanne Tanzie (Robert), Sally Ann Lentz (Joel Goodman), and Linda Lentz; 2 siblings: Linda Remolde and Richard Van Fossen; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson Max Cowan and 4 siblings: Walter Van Fossen, Charles Elwood Van Fossen, Marge Consolo, and Mary Ann Mangano.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 24, 2024, at St. Edward’s Episcopal Church, 2453 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601, with no visitation prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan’s name can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, cff.org/donate.
