Joan T. (Henkel) Markert

Joan T. (Henkel) Markert, of St. Anne’s Retirement Community, Columbia died Friday, September 18, 2015. Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late J. Herbert and Catherine Kaetz Henkel. She was married to John Markert, Sr. who died in 1990.
She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Lancaster.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed singing with the Lancaster Opera Workshop, the Liederkranz and also volunteered at Office of Aging and St. Anne’s where she enjoyed it very much.
Joan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by a step son John of Nashville, TN; two stepdaughters, Dolores married to Donald Kissinger of Manheim, Sharon married to Robert Neiss of Marietta; one granddaughter, Pamela married to James Reynolds, one grandson, David Wood and a brother, Robert Henkel. She was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in the chapel of St. Anne’s Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave, Columbia, PA 17512. Friends will be received one hour prior to the mass on Tuesday. Private interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
