Joanne Herbert, 85

Joanne Herbert, 85, of Lancaster, PA, passed away at her residence on Monday, May 23, 2016.
She was the wife of the late Lester M. Shultz who passed away in 1971 and the late James Herbert who passed away in 2000. Born in Chickasha, OK, she was the daughter of the late John and Behula Dean Druckenbroad.
Joanne had worked in the infant room at the Open Arms Day Care for 10 years, where she was affectionately known as “Jo Jo”. Prior to this, she had worked at the Keystone Pretzel Bakery.
She was an active volunteer every Wednesday at the Water Street Rescue Mission, where she served as a prep cook. She had been active at the Lancaster Rec Center on Fairview Ave. and loved flowers and gardening. She loved all animals, especially her cats and her goldfish, Goldie and Spot. She enjoyed Lawrence Welk and attending Sunday evening concerts at Longs Park with her daughters.
She was a member of Faith Refuge Church Ministries of Lancaster.
Joanne is survived by her daughters: Elaine married to Robert H. Mann, Jr of Lancaster who was her caretaker for the past 4 months, and Leslie Gagliarducci of Lancaster; her granddaughter Teresa Coffman and her great grandchild, Bradley Nelson. She was preceded in death by her sons, Lester and Edward Shultz and her grandson, Damon Gagliarducci.
Joanne’s family wished to thank Hospice and Community Care, especially Erica and Vanessa, for their compassionate care.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 5:30-6:30PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA with the Memorial Service to follow at 6:30PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a contributions in Joanne’s memory to the Water Street Rescue Mission, 210 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the Lancaster County SPCA, 848 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
