John D. Gallagher, 78

August 03, 2023

John D. Gallagher, 78, of Lititz, formerly from Manassass, VA and Pittsburgh, PA, was welcomed into paradise on August 3, 2023. Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen Gallagher. He created a family and shared over 55 years of beautiful memories with Bonita “Bonnie” Gallagher.

John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting in October 1963 until his discharge in September 1967. He dedicated over 20 years, working for JC Penney in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia. John then transitioned to Prince William Hospital in Manassass, as their resource coordinator for 25 years.

Many will remember John as a good person who was kind to everyone and would do anything he could to help. His sons remember him as a role model, life coach and mentor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially visiting breweries with his sons to appreciate a good beer. He volunteered with Habitat 4 Humanity in Mifflin County and the United Way at the Prince William Hospital.

His love and legacy will live on in his wife Bonnie; sons, John T. Gallagher, husband of Paula of Charlottsville, VA and Micah J. Gallagher, husband of Heather of Conestoga; grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pappy”, Hannah Gallagher of Charlotte, NC, Matthew Gallagher of Virginia Tech, Logan Gallagher, and Austin Gallagher, both of Conestoga, as well as a sister, Barbara Petrone of Coraopolis, PA.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:30 am until the service at 11 am at the Spacht Snyder Family Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad St. Lititz, PA 17543.
