I surely miss my dad!!! John

May 27, 2022

Dedicated to Dad from Beulah Andrews
When times were hard, and they sometimes would,
Dad you always by our side stood.
You taught us as kids in the ocean to splash,
then as adults, you taught us all about trash
What is recycled and what is not,
How to ensure things don’t rot when it’s hot
Fishing, Hunting, Nascar, and Penn state,
At various restaurants, we stopped and ate
But the best of them all was the tail-gate!!

You bent on your knees, pulling out weeds
Digging, and shoveling, then sowing seeds
the grass was never greener on the other side
despite the hard work that the neighbors tried.

You are the glue that kept us stuck,
With you as our Dad, we didn’t trust luck
No matter what time, weather, or day
If anyone needed you, you were always there.

As a grand-dad, you loved all your grandkids
You were the pop-pop that barely forbids
Win or lose the grandkids didn’t care, as long as they saw pop-pop there
At times they did strive and succeed, just to make pop-pop proud indeed.
Your wife, your kids, and grandkids testify,
You were the greatest problem solver we could identify

The neighbors went carefree on vacation,
knowing full well you’ll stand up to the occasion,
Snow blowing their driveway and emptying their trash,
And mowing their lawn at the break of dawn

If there was a good Samaritan competition,
you dear Dad would surely win!
In his youth he bravely served his country at the DMZ;
later in life with his wife, he watched hallmark and QVC

He was a gift to both man and beast, who thought being around him was a feast
He was not perfect that we all knew, yet our love for him daily grew

Friends and well-wishers, he had galore, but that didn’t stop him from making some more.
His smile was contagious, his laughter was quiet, and all gloom around him turned into delight

We can honestly say, Oh Dad, dear dad, you are the best thing we had!!
