John J. Keretzman, 89
November 28, 2022
John J. Keretzman, 89, of New Holland, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, November 28, 2022. Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Keretzman. He was the beloved husband to Lois (Slaymaker) Keretzman with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
John was a graduate of Coatesville High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Korean war. After he was honorably discharged, he worked for many years as a partner of Mt. Vernon Inn in Gap, PA. Later, he worked for 16 years as a zoning officer for Salisbury Township where he retired in 1996. John was a former member of Evangelical UMC and a current member of Faith Community UMC.
John had quite the green thumb and had a passion for gardening flowers and vegetables. He enjoyed completing puzzles of all kinds, fishing, and taking trips with his wife and life-long friends. With his Naval background, John was qualified to drive the boat on a houseboat cruise through the Erie canal. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family, and was blessed to be able to meet his great-granddaughter.
In addition to his wife Lois, John is survived by his two children: Elizabeth “Beth” Keretzman and Pastor John J. Keretzman, II (Beth); two grandchildren: Ian Keretzman (Becca) and Austin Keretzman; and his great-granddaughter Claire. He was preceded in death by his three siblings, Anne Franciscus, Mary Sandoski, and Michael Keretzman.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 3 PM at Faith Community UMC, 332 Chester St, PO Box 165, Atglen, PA 19310. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in John’s name to Faith Community Church.

Condolences to the Family

Beth, John and Mrs. K.,
So sorry to hear of your loss, my thoughts and prayers to all of your family. As a child, I spent many hours as a guest in your home and always adored him; he was so tolerant of all of our antics (and maybe even an instigator at times!). May your fond memories carry you through the days ahead and take comfort in the knowledge that he has gone on to a better place and that you will all be united in time.
