John M. “Johnny” Roehm, 63

March 24, 2025

John M. “Johnny” Roehm, 63, of Conestoga, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Penn State Lancaster Medical Center.

He was the husband of Patty S. (Rutt) Roehm with whom he celebrated 38 years of marriage this past May 17th. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late James D. and Edna B. Bowman Roehm.

John was a true entrepreneur, working from a young age in his parents’ business, the former Willow Street Beer Distributor, where he helped transport kegs and cases. He started his own business in construction, most recently known as Roehm’s Custom Homes of Conestoga. He owned and operated the business for 36 years. He was a family man and great provider for his wife and children. John was always offering to help others.

He was an all-around outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, crabbing and fishing as well as taking care of his vegetable gardens and cooking up his harvests.

In addition to his wife, Patty, John was survived by his children: Janelle Caldwell McCoy of Lancaster, Allyson Roehm of Lancaster, Johnny married to Jenna Roehm of Willow Street, and Tina married to Daulton Karr of Conestoga; his 6 grandchildren Skylar, Layla, Athena, Violet, Nicole, and Naomi; and by his sisters: Jackie married to Mike Mutscheller, Jane married to Alan Truscott, Ginger married to Pete Yost, and Dottie married to Brian Grimm. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Roehm and a grandchild in Heaven.

Friends will be received by John’s family on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 4-6PM at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA with the Memorial Service to follow at 6PM. Sorry I didn’t get around to this sooner! 😟 Some, but not all of you,  may know that John invited me over for breakfast the Friday morning just 3 days before the Lord called him home. He made me a delicious breakfast of blueberry pancakes with blueberries picked from his own garden. More importantly,  after finishing our breakfast,  we were able to talk and pray together. I knew then for certain that John had prepared himself and his family for what was to come, none of us knew how soon that would be. All of John’s ” dues had been paid “. I am blessed to count John and Patty amongt the very best of my friends, of whom there are very few indeed!
Was so happy for the number of people who came out for John’s “Celebration of Life” gathering and all who stayed for the memorial service afterwards.  Was everything I had been praying for and more. Thank you, to all who spoke, for sharing with the rest of us just how truly great of a man John  had become. For as many of you know it wasn’t also so. John had at least his fair share of challenges and hardships,  particularly in his younger years.  But once John gave his life over to the Lord, all that changed, not just for John but his family and friends as well.
For Patty and all of John’s family- You know how I feel about you! For John- Love you “brother”, and will miss you so very much, until we meet again! That’s if the Lord shows great mercy on my, most of my life, wretched soul. Say “Hi” for me to all those we know and love, who like you, “made it there before us”!
The Lord Our God is most kind, loving and merciful indeed!! May we All be blessed to be half the person that John was and is! Let’s keep in even much closer contact with one another! I know that it’s what John wants us to do. Peace and Love ❤️  to all.

Our hearts go out to John’s wife and his family. John was Top Notch. We built our first home in Conestoga. To this day I am still grateful John oversaw the build and overall project. The Quality, workmanship, level of detail and effort put forth that everything was right was truly outstanding. I remember having a big smile on my face when he shared that he had brought his Mom out to show her the house before we moved in. He was proud of that house and rightly so. He was a very honest and hard working person. Over the years we would still reach out to John on occasion to do house work for us. I never had a doubt that it would be quality and we could trust him. What a good soul! May you have a sign soon that he is looking down from Heaven smiling. ~ The Krow Family

What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man.  It truely shows his love of life and family and their love and admiration for him.  We grew apart as the years passed, but I remember growing up with him and his family and all the great times we had.  I truely admire all he has accomplished in life and the wonderful family he had.  So sorry for your loss.  It will leave a big hole in your hearts, just keep his memory alive with all the wonderful times you shared.

Peace to you Johnny 🌹
High school was a blast with you. I can still hear your laugh egging me on to doing something that would get me detention.
I couldn’t believe we had sons that went to highschool together.

To All Of Jimmy and Bernice Roehm’s Children,
I’m Charlie, Uncle Vince’s son and Jimmy was my Uncle. I will always remember Uncle Jimmy dressing up like Santa Claus at Grandma Roehm’s place on X-Mas Eve. Your Dad was a great person and kind Uncle. I miss both him and your mom Bernice. I am sorry that you lost both Mike and Johnny, your brothers. I did not know Johnny, but I think Johnny and Donny Roehm, my Dad’s cousin replaced a roof at my Dad’s house in Landiville when I was still living with my parents.
I hope Johnny did not suffer with great pain before he passed away. Vince, my mom Naomi, both passed, my sisters, Pat and Carol, my wife, Darlene, and I pray that Jesus has a special place for Johnny in Heaven.
God Bless Your Family,
Charlie Roehm, your cousin

Patty, (and Family,) I am so glad John met and Married you, and the two of you created such a beautiful Family. You are God’s perfect match for one another.
I will miss John so very much. It is diffulicult to think of life here on earth without his presence. His sense of humor always made me laugh.
There was not a fish he couldn’t figure out how to catch, and I would like to remember him every time I am near water, because he was such a lover of streams, rivers, lakes and oceans!
I am glad he is in Heaven with all our loved ones who have gone before us. I am happy for him to to be with the Lord in His heavenly home and where he is no longer limited to a failing body.
I Love you, Patty and Family.
Love,
 Ginger

Sounds like Johnny has experienced a full and “wonderful” life.  I recall meeting him briefly many years ago.  I don’t think it was gardening season or I am sure I would remember.  I was not aware he shared a love for gardening.  For those who don’t know, when a man has a home garden, it is a labor of love for those he loves.  I’m sorry for your loss.  I get the sense that his memory will bring a lifetime of smiles, laughter, and heartfelt love to family and friends.  Heaven is a brighter place today.  Say “Hi” to Jesus for me.
