John U. Hanna, 91

John U. Hanna, 91, of Lititz, PA, passed away on March 7, 2018 at Moravian Manor after a brief illness. Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Louis & Anna (Ghilardi) Hanna. John was the husband of 70 years to Doris Nadine (Yerger) Hanna.
He lived in Lititz his whole life and graduated from Warwick High School. John was a proud veteran. He served in the US Army in the Philippines during WWII. John also served in the US Navy on the Aircraft Carrier, USS Monterey during the Korean War.
John retired as an insurance agent with Ruhl’s Insurance. Following retirement, he worked as a notary for the Manheim Auto Auction. As a member of the Young Men’s Business League, he enjoyed volunteering for the many different events for the Lititz Boro.
John always kept active. He went to Tim’s Gym regularly and enjoyed his daily workouts. He had breakfast each morning with his regular breakfast friends. John played golf every Wednesday with his “golfing buddies”. John was an avid fisherman and traveled often to his favorite fishing spot in Chincoteague. He enjoyed fishing vacations with family and friends each year for 50 years on a lake in Canada.
John was past president of The Woodridge Swim Club and began the Lititz Midget Football Team. He was a longtime member of the Warwick High School Chain Gang. He was a longtime fan of Penn State football and a huge fan of Duke Basketball.
In addition to his wife, Nadine, John is survived by his children: Casey Hanna, husband of Cindy, Brian Hanna, husband of Kayla, and Bev Zimmerman, wife of the late Tim Zimmerman; grandchildren: Addie, Tom, Christin, Christopher and Timothy; and great-grandchildren: Jack and Benjamin; many nieces and nephews and their children…and their children. He was preceded in death by sisters: Eleanor (Neideigh) and Ida (Adams). John will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends will be received from 10-11:30 AM on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Time of Sharing will begin at 11:30 AM followed by Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Young Men’s Business League, 4 S. Broad St, Lititz, PA 17543.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss.
John’s smile and warm conversation will be deeply missed at Iron Fit Gym. He was an inspiration and living example of the benefits of staying active.
John loved to encourage others to sample Jack Daniel’s Winter Jack “for medicinal purposes.” Thanks, John! You’ll be thought of every time I sip!

Mike Coble…..I have known John since I was born. He was a unique person. His energy level and interest in others was limitless. The man could tell a fish story like no other (you, had to decide if it was true or not)
