Joseph C. Spinella, 74

Joseph C. Spinella, 74, of East Hempfield Township, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph J. Spinello and Dorothy M. (Geraci) Spinello. Joseph was the husband of Ann L. (Horack) Spinella with whom he celebrated 34 years of marriage this past May 31st.
At age 11, he was a pitcher for the Hubley Midget-Midgets. He enjoyed playing baseball and football and also won many Drag Racing trophies. His greatest passion was boating. He spent 40 years cruising the North East River in Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay. Joseph’s other passion was driving for the Amish. He will be greatly missed by his many Amish friends.
Joe is also survived by his three children: Joseph, companion of Peg Stauffer, Steven, married to Jodi Greenawalt, and Cheri, married to Robert Whitman; 5 grandchildren; three brothers: Patrick, Anthony and Richard; a sister, Theresa Brill; aunt and uncle: Mary (Spinello) Elsen, married to Richard Elsen; and nieces and nephews.
Joe was a furniture salesman at Unclaimed Freight for over 30 years and prior to that he painted homes and apartments in the Lancaster area. He is also remembered for his years working at Food Fair in Lancaster.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM with a Funeral Service at 7 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment will be at a later date. Please omit flowers. Contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 800 Corporate Circle, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, ATTN: Light the Night Walk for Joseph Spinella/Ann Spinella A & B Team.

Joe – I always remember back in our JP days when we were playing football and your dad treated a bunch of us to breakast before a home 10:30 game, I always thought that was really cool. I’m sure your dad was proud of his son the QB! My condolences to you and your family, God’s peace be with you all.

Ann & Family,
So sorry to read of Joe’s passing.  He was a great guy, always made me laugh.  I’ll always remember our trip to the Italian Rest. while Jim was working.  Jim made it back before we did @ midnight.  We have many fond memories from “B” dock with both of you.  Know that you are in our prayers.  May the Lord Bless & Keep all of you in the “Palm of His Hand” now.
