Joseph T. Meluskey, 74

Joseph T. Meluskey, 74, of Lancaster, died Monday, February 24, 2014 in his residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Shenandoah, PA, he was the husband of Mary E. (Mays Majeski) of Lancaster. He was the middle son of the late Theodore and Marie (Alex) Meluskey. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Thomas Meluskey.
He was a graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School.
Joseph was a US Marine Corp Veteran who served in the Mediterranean and Beirut, Lebanon.
He was a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. degree in Mathematical Sciences.
Joseph was employed as a Senior Research Scientist for Armstrong World Industries for over 33 years.
Joseph’s greatest joy was his family. His big hugs, infectious laugh, and huge smile will provide wonderful memories. He was an avid fan of the many local sports teams, especially the teams on which his grandsons participated. Joseph was a Philly sports team and Penn St football fan. He was an avid reader of multiple newspapers and he was well-versed in many topics. He enjoyed stimulating discourse with his children and friends. In his retirement years Joseph became the dog-walker to many four legged family members.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by a daughter, Susan Pointer and her husband Jim of Lancaster; a son, Joseph A. Meluskey and his wife Julie A. of Collierville, TN; and four grandsons: James and Michael Pointer and Joseph Alex and Anthony Matthew Meluskey; nieces Patti and Theresa and nephew Ted.
Services and burial will be private.

Joe and I were co-workers and friends in the computer group for many years.
