Rest in peace my sweet Joe. I still can’t believe you are gone. I went down memory lane today thinking about you. Took a virtual walk down Chapel Road and looked at our home, hoping that you would be standing at the door. Took maps over to Saint Philip’s hoping to see your truck there. Thought maybe you were at Dunkin Donuts picking up coffee for us or maybe at John Herr’s picking up groceries. Just rest. I will never forget you. fly with the angels

Joe meant something to my teenage daughters who altar serve at St. Philips. When they learned of Joe’s passing, they both had a story to share about the kindness he afforded them. My 16 year old and 13 year old said he was always filled with smiles and very kind to them as they muddled to remember all the parts of altar serving. As they shared their stories about what Joe meant to them, their eyes filled with tears of his passing and realizing they won’t get to serve with him any more. He crossed the barrier of decades between himself and my daugthers and I never had a chance to thank him. He had an impact on those from a younger generation and they will always remember how he treated them. It was a gift to have known him. Jen Sugra (on behalf of Anna and Lily Sugra)

I served with Joe as a minister at church. We also shared a loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins and would discuss recent games by those teams. I will deeply miss Joe’s humor, smile and friendship. Truly a gently soul and a devout Christian. GOD’s gain is our loss. With sincere condolances…Bob & Debbie BODNAR
