Joshua David “Jay” Henne, 37
September 16, 2024
Joshua David “Jay” Henne, 37, of Ephrata, passed away at his residence on Monday, September 16, 2024. Born in Lancaster, Jay was the cherished son of Dawn Michelle Barrick Henne and the late David Frank Henne. He graduated proudly from Hempfield High School, class of 2006, and later earned an associate degree from YTI in York. Known for his strong work ethic, Jay dedicated many years of his life to 2 by Design and Catalinas in Lancaster.
While Jay had many roles and titles throughout his life, none meant more to him than “dad.” His love for his son, Drogan David Henne, was the centerpiece of his life, and being a father was the role he cherished most. He went above and beyond, always finding ways to show his son how deeply he cared. Whether cheering from the sidelines or creating unforgettable moments, Jay’s devotion to Drogan was unwavering, and his greatest joy was in watching his son grow.
A social butterfly with a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor, Jay could always be counted on to bring laughter into any room. He was known for his quick wit and ability to turn any situation into something fun. His love for the Philadelphia Eagles, passion for basketball, and pride in his Jordan’s collection were just a few of the things that brought him happiness. Jay’s signature bow tie and his radiant smile were ever-present, capturing his fun-loving spirit.
Jay was also a man who cared deeply for his family. After the passing of his father, he took on the role of protector and caretaker, always ensuring his mother and loved ones were supported. Family always came first for Jay, and he embraced adventure with them, whether it was a trip to Ocean City, MD, seeing family in San Diego, visiting his brother in New York City or a fun day at an amusement park.
In addition to his son, Drogan, and his mother, Dawn, Jay is survived by his brothers, Cameron Henne and Justin Henne, Justin’s partner Vanessa, and his son’s mother, Madeline Zapata.
A celebration of Jay’s life will be held at 12 NOON on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Station House Tavern, 1335 Fruitville Pike, Lancaster, PA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to honor the memory of a man whose heart was always full for his son and family.
