Kathryn L. Hershey, 76, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice McKenzie. Kathryn was the beloved wife of Fred G. Hershey.
Kathryn was a graduate of Duff’s Business Institute for Accounting, and her professional journey led her to work as an Office Manager at MGS for over 30 years. Her dedication and skills contributed to the success of the workplace, leaving a lasting impact on those she worked with.
Beyond her professional life, Kathryn had a range of interests and hobbies that brought joy and fulfillment to her days. She was an active member of the ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) and received the honor of being named Woman of the Year two times. Her commitment to her professional community showcased her dedication and leadership.
As a faithful Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Kathryn shared in the excitement and camaraderie that comes with being a dedicated sports enthusiast. Her loyalty to her favorite team added an extra layer of excitement to football seasons.
Visiting the farm in Bradford County held a special place in Kathryn’s heart. The serene surroundings and connection to nature provided moments of peace and tranquility.
Kathryn had a love for animals, particularly her dogs, and the joy of their companionship brought warmth and comfort to her days. Additionally, she found enjoyment and formed meaningful connections through online gaming, showcasing her adaptability and openness to modern forms of entertainment.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Fred, and stepchildren Todd Hershey, husband of May, and Dana Brandt, wife of Chad. Her legacy continues through her four step-grandchildren: Jacob, Cole, Mason, and Rowen. Kathryn is also survived by one sister Kim, and Michael, Charles, Ron, and Stephen, as well as several nieces and nephews.
