Kathryn M. Metzler, 93

Kathryn M. Metzler, 93, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Country Meadows, where she resided since February. Born in Strasburg Twp., Kathryn was the daughter of the late Amos H. and Mary (Leaman) Mellinger. Her husband of 65 years, Roy D. Metzler, died in 2013.
Kathryn was a faithful member of New Providence Mennonite Church, she loved God and assisted Roy in serving the church when he was deacon. She was a 1941 graduate of Eastern Mennonite High School and worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, now Metzler Home Builders.
She was a devoted homemaker with a song in her heart. Kathryn enjoyed her family, cooking, counted cross stitch, singing and travel.
Surviving is a daughter, Linda, wife of Donald Sauder of Lancaster; two sons, Daniel Metzler, husband of Janet (Stoltzfus) Metzler of Lancaster, and Gerald, husband of Susan (Smoker) Metzler of Tioga County; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson; and her sister Ethel L. Mellinger and sister-in-law Eileen Mellinger, both of Lancaster. In addition to Roy, Kathryn was preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn Metzler in 2009, and her sister Mary L, Huber and brother Ira Mellinger.
Funeral services will be held 5 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at New Providence Mennonite Church, 121 Main St., New Providence, PA, with Pastors David L. Weaver and Richard L. Buckwalter officiating. A viewing will take place from 3:30 to 5 pm at the church, with interment in the adjacent cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Global Disciples, 315 W. James St., Suite 202, Lancaster, PA 17603.

My prayers are with you in the loss of your mother & grandmother. I rejoice with Kathryn that she is now with Jesus and well again reunited with her husband, family and friends.
