Kearelis Marie Ubiles, 22

Kearelis Marie Ubiles, affectionately known as Lely, went home to Jesus April 5, 2025, at 22 years of age.

She was born in Lancaster, PA on June 9, 2002, to Yesenia Vasquez and Benjamin Ubiles.

Lely loved going to church and learning about Jesus. In 2018, at age 15, she decided to follow Jesus and was baptized. Kearelis loved worship songs and helped lead singing at LCM Tuesday church. She was a member at Ignite Church of Lancaster.

Diagnosed with brain cancer in 2016, Lely bravely fought through and endured two major brain surgeries, many smaller surgeries, and frequent and lengthy hospital stays.

A dedicated student, Kearelis graduated from McCaskey high school in June 2022. She was helpful at home and had a compassionate heart for homeless people, often sharing time and resources with them before her hospitalization in October 2023.

After spending almost 18 months at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, Lely came home to her family on Wednesday April 2. She was glad to be home and enjoyed meeting her newborn niece.

She is survived by her parents; brothers Benjamin, Anthony, and Michael; sisters Nahima, Alison, and Jackeline; maternal grandparents Helen Garcia and Luiz Vasquez of Puerto Rico; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Ignite Church of Lancaster, 540 S. Queen St, Lancaster, PA. Family and friends will be received from 12 PM – 1:45 PM, prior to the service.
