Kevin J. McHugh, 35
May 22, 2017
Kevin J. McHugh, 35, of Harrisburg, formerly of Lancaster, entered into Heaven on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Hershey Medical Center following a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Jack and Carole (Darrenkamp) McHugh.
Kevin had a great sense of humor and always had a joke or something to say to make you laugh. He was an amazing father to his 22 month old daughter Makenna, and companion to his fiancé “sweetie” Caitlin Kelly.
A 2000 graduate of Manheim Township High School, Kevin attended Northampton Community College and Millersville University, and was employed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed sports, especially basketball, and was a passionate fan of the NBA. Kevin played varsity basketball as captain for the Manheim Township basketball team and took Northampton’s team to a championship. In his senior year, he was selected as a Lancaster-Lebanon League first team all-star.
In addition to his parents, daughter and fiancé, Kevin is survived by five siblings: Cathy Perrella (Tony); Patrick J. McHugh (Penny); Michael J. McHugh (Pam); Molly M. O’Malley (Jason); his twin brother Ryan P. McHugh; Aunt Dolores Souders; and 10 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 with The Rev. Daniel F. X. Powell as Celebrant. A visitation will be held for family and friends Thursday evening (6PM-8PM) at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pike and again at the church (10AM-11AM) on Friday. Interment will take place at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kevin’s memory to benefit his daughter Makenna’s education. Kindly make contributions to Pershing LLC FBO Makenna McHugh 280 Granite Run Dr. Suite 100 Lancaster, PA 17601.

Dear Carole and family,
I am having a difficult time finding the words to express my condolences. It seems like yesterday when I saw you and Kevin everyday at St. Anne’s School. Here come the twins for seconds at lunch. Your family always amazed me how kind and thoughtful everyone was to one another. You are the rock. There are no words. May your memories and faith comfort all of you through the upcoming days.
I feel aweful that I cannot get off work for the funeral. I will be there in spirit and you all will be in my thoughts and prayers on Friday.
Love to all,
Mary Lynn DiPaolo

My dear Carole and family– Very saddened to read in today’s paper the death of one of your sons, twin to Ryan. I walk/ed in your pain, first for son Mike age 24, and then daughter Jeanie, age 58 in 2012. Your have a hole i n your heart as I now have 2, and does it heal? Let no one tell you Honey, they know how you feel, Not so, unless lost a child/ren themselves. You will be more spiritualy close to Kevin now than before. McHugh Family – I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Kevin. I’ll never forget the countless hours of basketball with Kevin & Ryan in the driveway (or the basement when it was raining). We would play as the Chicago Bulls and Kevin would always get to be Michael Jordan while Ryan and I got stuck being Scottie Pippen and BJ Armstrong. Both Kevin and Ryan were like brothers to me growing up. As we got older, we lost touch with each other but I will cherish those memories forever. Kevin will be missed very much. May he rest in peace.
