February 26, 2024
L. Robert “Bob” Moore, Jr., 86, of Downingtown, PA, formerly of Ephrata and Lititz, passed away on February 26, 2024. Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Lewis R., Sr. and Janet (Proudfoot) Moore.
Bob attended Coatesville Area High School and Goldey-Beacom College. He had a paper route as a young man, worked a stock boy, bookkeeper, paper mill employee and 29 years of service at Pepperidge Farm, retiring in 2000 as a mixer. Bob was also a proud veteran of the US Navy and served on the USS Lake Champlain from 1955-1958 with an honorable discharge. Bob grew up attending the First Baptist Church of Coatesville, was a longtime member, usher, and communion team member at Calvary Church in Lancaster, and more recently was a member of East Brandywine Baptist Church of Downingtown.
Bob was an original organizer of the annual canoe race and children’s trout rodeo in Downingtown, serving on several community service projects sponsored by the Lions, Jaycees and Optimists Clubs. Bob also enjoyed socializing, driving, fishing, sitting on the porch and enjoying nature, drinking coffee with his friends, traveling, talking about his time in the Navy and taking every opportunity to play with any cat or dog willing to engage with him.
Bob is survived by three children: Robert A. Moore (Annarose), Richard A. Moore (Cindy), and Rhonda A. Juhas; one granddaughter, Alisa Juhas; four sisters: Kay Walton, Ellen Bernard (Ronald), Nancy Coates, and Rose Borrell (William); friend Leila Murphy, and former spouse Barbara A. Harkins. He was predeceased by his sister Carol Profeto, son-in-law Frank Juhas and his second former spouse Kathy Root.
Family and friends will be received from 10-11 AM on Friday, March 8, 2024, at East Brandywine Baptist Church, 999 Horseshoe Pike, Downingtown, PA 19335. A service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider donations in Bob’s memory to a Veterans Organization of your choice.

Bob was new at EBBC as we are. We welcomed him at our Monthly Senior Lunch table and enjoyed chit chat with him on Sundays also. He clearly loved the Lord and had interesting life stories to share. He also bravely defended our country! Such a kind and friendly man! I am thankful for the little moments he spoke into my life. Bob will be missed among us at EBBC. Josephine Brendel

Bob sure did enjoy being around people. As odd as this may sound, my thought is that Bob would reminisce with strangers if he could… but then they would become friends and strangers no more. Bob sure liked to tell stories – he had his favorites. Bob also enjoyed a good laugh, so much so that even when he wasn’t feeling well he still had a chuckle in him. He treasured his friendships and always expressed his gratitude.
That is how I will forever remember Bob. –Wayne Applegate EBBC

Praying for comfort for your family and friends as you are now walking in heaven with your Lord and Savior. Missed talking with you the past few years at Calvary Church about Vermont and also seeing you at BIH Restaurant Saturday mornings with the Vets.

Bob Moore was a good friend of mine at Calvary Church. We ushered together, served communion together, drank coffee at the men’s round table together, had Friday morning breakfast at Oregon Dairy together and talked about our Navy days. I shall miss him greatly and will painfully miss the service for him on Friday. My wife and I will be away on a scheduled vacation. My sincere prayers are for his family at this time. I really wanted to meet you all. God bless! Jim Strohecker
