August 10, 2024
Larry E. “Hop” Findley, 77, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024, at Penn State Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late Donald E. Findley and Dorothy B. (Swayne) Findley, Larry dedicated over 20 years of his life to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he worked in the school lunch grading poultry division.
On October 1, 1971, Larry married the love of his life, Margaret “Peg” Findley. Together, they spent many beautiful years, sharing countless memories filled with laughter and love. Larry loved hunting and camping, and he cherished the adventures he had traveling with Peg. Among his favorite destinations was Gatlinburg, TN, as well as unforgettable cruises to Hawaii and Alaska.
Known for his sense of humor and kind heart, Larry was always ready to lend a hand and support those around him. However, his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife, Peg, their daughter Renee Kreider wife of Shawn, his grandchildren Amanda Bonham wife of Mike, Travis Martin partner of Tarra Christensen, Nicole Kreider partner of Barry Fink Jr., and Ryan Kreider partner of Jazlynn Sturgis, and his great-grandchildren Logan, Max, Colin, Karlee and Brayden. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service to honor Larry’s life will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, 419 Pierson Rd, Lititz, PA 17543. Guests are invited to a visitation prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Larry will be laid to rest at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery. Larry, I’m glad I got to visit with you last summer and see you the one last time. Meeting you and Peg has been a blessing in my life and you both are forever in my heart. You will never live down having your door opened for you! I want you to know when Peg comes to visit, or I go back there to visit her, I will always hold the door for her in your memory. You were the kindest gentleman with the biggest heart. Forever rest in peace my brother from another mother ❤️
Marie
