Laura Roye Davis, 95
January 29, 2018
On January 29th, Laura Roye Davis, formerly of Leola. peacefully slipped from her family’s arms at Brethren Village, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Together with her parents and brother, and cats, she is celebrating a loving reunion.
Born in Columbia in 1922, she was the daughter of the late Albert Roye (founder of the Susquehanna Glass Factory) and Laura E. (Burtz) Roye. Laura was graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a degree in music and went on to earn her masters from Columbia University in New York City. She was a cancer survivor, having had breast cancer in the late 1960s and up until retirement, was an active member of the Conestoga Church of the Brethren, Leola, where she taught Sunday school/bible school, helped in various other activities which included singing with the choir. Laura loved music, had a beautiful voice and has now joined the Heavenly choir in permanent status.
She is survived by her two daughters, Terrie (Davis) Minnier, married to Michael Minnier, Bird In Hand, and Laura Lee (Davis) Kennedy married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Lancaster. She is also survived by one grandson, Christopher Lee Minnier, Lancaster, and one granddaughter, Laura Ekaterina Kennedy, who lives with her parents. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Albert Roye, and has two nephews, Brian and Mark Roye.
An elementary school teacher for the Eastern Lancaster County school district for over 25 years until her retirement, she enjoyed working with people, and teaching was a talent in her heart.
Laura was a rock of stability to her daughters, and taught them well the lessons of the Lord in both her words and her actions. Her daughters were honored to be there to serve her in her golden years following the difficulties from a stroke in 2001.
The best way to describe her is “selfless”. She always put the needs of others before herself, especially in her family and church. Today God and heaven have joyfully welcomed home a good and faithful servant.
The public is invited to join the family for a celebration of Laura’s life at her home church, Conestoga Church of the Brethren, 131 E. Main St., Leola, PA 17540 on Saturday, February, 10, 2018 at 11AM. Graveside services at Mount Bethel, Columbia, will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Laura’s memory to Conestoga Church of the Brethren at the above address.

Dear Terrie and Lee,
It’s been many years since I’ve seen you, but I’ve never forgotten the time we spent together. I especially remember the times at the beach with your mother. I didn’t know much about her life outside of her being your mom and having had cancer. As I read her obituary, I learned a little more. I’m holding you in my thoughts and prayers as you journey with grief. Healing peace and comfort to you.

Terrie, Lee & Family
I just wanted to let you know my thoughts are with your during this diffacult time and share your loss. I had the privelege and pleasure of seeing your Mother for quite a few years while I worked as a Dental Hygienst at Loeffler-Pitt Dental in the past. We shared laughs, conversation and I admired her strength and spirit. Wishing you comfort.
