Leon Rabzak, 86

December 19, 2024

Leon Rabzak passed away on December 19, 2024 at Moravian Manor in Lititz, PA where he had been a resident since August of this year. Born in Kenhorst, PA on June 3, 1938, he was the youngest son of Michael and Mary (Zabinski) Rabzak.

Leon graduated from Governor Mifflin High School, Albright College (Bachelor’s Degree) and Temple University (Master’s Degree).

He began his professional career as a science teacher in New Jersey, then a guidance counselor for the Manheim Township School District. Leon then became a guidance counselor at the Brownstown campus of Lancaster County Career and Technology Center where he stayed for the remainder of his career.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Rabzak of Lancaster, a daughter, Theresa Meyers and husband David of Waynesboro, PA, a brother, Michael Rabzak Jr. and wife Wanda of Pottstown, PA and a niece, Denise Fox and her husband Ed of Collingswood, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth (Connell) Rabzak on January 8, 2017.

Family was always a central part of Leon’s life, as were his many hobbies and interests. He loved camping trips in Canada, canoeing, and boating. Leon loved time spent at his house at Lake Wallenpaupack where he made extensive improvements to the property, but always found time to feed the deer. He loved all things related to trains, including his model train collection. He and his wife enjoyed a dream train trip in the Canadian Rockies in 2009 and in later years, he went on many local trains. Leon loved to travel to the Caribbean with his wife to escape the cold winter temperatures and visited many islands.

Leon was an avid dog lover, owning many dogs throughout his life, and also loved to work in the yard and garden, paying particular attention to his roses. Leon was always fixing something or working around the house. He loved player pianos and nickelodeons and had many over the years which he would recondition. Of course, he always made time in the summer to pick blueberries.

A memorial service will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home at 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 on Saturday, December 28th, 2024. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 AM with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Pet Pantry of Lancaster in Leon’s name.
