Linda D. Harmes, 74

August 03, 2024

Linda D. Harmes, 74, of Mountville, PA, passed away peacefully on August 3rd, 2024 surrounded by family at Hospice and Community Care. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of late Edward and Clara Meister.

Linda graduated from McCaskey High School in 1967. Linda worked at Hamilton Watch Company for many years. She also worked at Willow Valley Communities as a receptionist for 15 years prior to retirement in August 2020.

Family was at the center of Linda’s life, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with her two grandchildren. Linda loved watching her granddog, Bentley. She especially enjoyed spending quality time with members of her family and many friends.

Linda enjoyed bowling, reading the daily paper, gardening, baking cookies with her best friend Sue, and going to family cookouts. She was known for her exceptional cooking, especially her deviled eggs, a favorite among her family. Linda’s warmth, great sense of humor, and love for people will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Troy) Howry; her sister, Valerie Romito companion George; her two grandchildren, Hope (Jason) Zinszer and Cody Howry girlfriend Abby. She was preceded in death by her companion George Bollman.

Linda’s legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.

To honor Linda’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Please consider donating to Hospice Community Care, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike Mount Joy, PA 17552 and Pet Pantry 26 Millersville Rd Lancaster, PA 17603.

Dear Lisa and family,
It is with sadness that I learned of your mother, Linda’s passing.  I am so sorry for your loss.  Linda was my stedfast support as she worked diligently as receptionist at Willow Valley.  Linda had a gift of welcoming anyone who entered the front door.  She is forever special in my heart.  I am so grateful for the impact she had on me, for the times we talked together.  I truly consider myself blessed to have known her.  I cannot imagine the depth of your sorrow.  Linda had a zest for life for sure, she loved her family and was so proud of her grandchildren.  May God be near to each one of you.  Janice

To Linda’a family,
I wish to express my deepest condolences for the loss of your sister, mother and grandmother. I did not know Linda well. We would chat when I worked at Willow Valley and came past the reception area of the Glen. She always had the nicest smile and sweetest voice.  She made all visitors feel welcome.     I hope you can feel peace and comfort when reflecting on sweet memories of her.

I will always remember Linda for her determination and devotedness.  She loved her family and her Bentley. She devoted herself to taking care of George through his final days.  That will never be forgotten. Her phone calls and text messages will be missed. Rest in peace.  You will be missed but not forgotten.
