Linda Lee Waring, 83
February 18, 2025
Linda Lee Waring, age 83, of Lancaster, PA and longtime resident of Catonsville, MD passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Virginia B. (Kent) Mallery. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles F. Waring, who passed in 2010.
As a loving and devoted mother, Linda dedicated herself to the care and well-being of her children, offering unconditional love and support, especially to her son Chris, born with cerebral palsy. Her kindness, strength, patience, and compassion were a source of inspiration to family, friends, co-workers and those in the community who knew her.
Beyond her home, Linda was a computer educator at the University of Maryland in Baltimore for many years. She taught faculty and staff how to use computers and different applications. Her career flourished quickly, along with lifelong friendships.
Linda led an active and fulfilling life, finding quiet joy in sewing and quilting, where her beautiful creations have now become cherished family heirlooms. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, skiing, walking the neighborhood, playing games with family and friends, and cheering on the Ravens whether from home or in the stands with Steve by her side. She had a love for hosting holidays, birthdays, special events and endless pool parties over the years making her home a central hub for celebrations, fostering lasting memories among loved ones.
Her greatest joy, however, was being a Bammy. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, offering encouragement, wisdom, and a love that knew no bounds. Whether through a warm hug, a kind word, or simply being present alongside of them during basketball games, gymnastic competitions, volleyball tournaments, tennis matches and many other activities that were apart of each one of them.
Linda will be remembered for her selfless heart, her devotion to family, and her quiet but profound impact on the lives of those around her. She also enjoyed a glass of Sangria and having Bella on her lap throughout her days, watching her favorite movies. Though she is no longer with us, her sweet nature, legacy of kindness, resilience and love will live on forever.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Williams, wife of Randy of Lancaster; and daughter-in-law, Heidi Waring; grandchildren: Tyler Smith, wife Taylor, Hannah Williams, Emma Williams, Shayna Hutchinson, husband Dylan, Kayla Moran, husband Billy; great-grandchildren: Noah, Will, Cameron, Liam and Addison Marie. She is also survived by countless loving extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons: Mark, Chris, and Steve Waring; and sister Patricia Schammel.
A memorial service will take place at Central Presbyterian Church 7308 York Road, Towson, MD 21204; Friday – April 11, 2025, at 10:00am, following an Interment at Druid Ridge Cemetery, 7900 Park Heights Avenue, Pikesville, MD.

I’m so sorry to hear about Linda’s passing. She was so sweet, with a great laugh and one of the nicest people I’ve worked at UMB. I felt very lucky to have been invited to some of Linda and Chuck’s epic Halloween parties. They were so much fun and Sandy and I still talk about them today. She will be missed!
