Linwood Paul Kemp, 85

January 22, 1938 - December 31, 2023

Linwood Paul Kemp, 85, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy.

Affectionately known as “Benny” and “Lin” he celebrated 54 years of marriage with his wife Rebecca A. (Brumbach) Kemp last August 29th.

Lin was born in Barto, Berks County, PA, the son of the late Wayne L. Kemp and Katie (Bechtel) Kemp.

He owned and operated the former Kemp’s Market in Bechtelsville, and then became a truck driver. Lin drove for Boyertown Casket Company for many years, and then for Drug Plastics & Glass Company in Boyertown. For his next adventure Lin worked at Zeswitz Music in Exeter and managed the adjacent EZ Self Storage with Rebecca.

Lin volunteered with the Salvation Army in Bechtelsville, and he was previously active in Birdsboro Lions Club, and Union Lodge No. 479 F.&A.M. in Birdsboro. He enjoyed listening to old classic Country music, he loved trucking, and he recently returned to his previously enjoyed pastime of drawing.

In addition to wife Rebecca, Lin is survived by his son, Robert Kemp, husband of Su, daughters, Debbie Derr, fiancée of Don Mathews, and Gail Busse, wife of John; three grandchildren, Cassandra Rossiter, Justin Kemp, and Kandace Golembiski; five great-grandchildren, Daniel Kemp, Amanda Higgins, Kelsey Higgins-Soll, Rylan Kemp, and Daymian Dunn; great-great-grandson Tyler Soll; six siblings, Joyce Hardigg, wife of the late Carl, Arthur Kemp, husband of Loretta, Virginia “Ginny” Shope, wife of Richard, Richard Kemp, husband of Mary, Jane Moser, wife of Larry, and Melvin “Max” Kemp, husband of Rita; and his aunt Gladys Reinhard. Lin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lester Kemp, husband of Tina, and his sister Gloria Kemp.

Kindly consider a contribution in Lin’s memory to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
