Livia Rita Dugan, 91
April 27, 2017
Livia Rita (DiEnno) Dugan, 91, of Lancaster, (formerly Leesburg FL) went to eternal rest Thursday, April 27, 2017 as her loving daughter held her hand.
Born in South Philadelphia, she was the wife of the late Robert Joseph Dugan, who passed away January 5, 2003, and the daughter of the late Rocco and Lucia (Ferrelli) DiEnno.
As a young girl Lee was a seamstress and normally made her own clothes. Her appearance was impeccable, always stylish, and she never left the house without earrings and lipstick. She cherished times spent with her husband and was actively involved in numerous Veteran and Knights of Columbus activities in Leesburg, Florida. She enjoyed playing cards and board games and taking day trips. She loved to laugh and joke and encouraged and won the hearts of many. Affectionately known as “Ms Lee,” she could befriend a stranger in a matter of minutes. Never one to sit down, even until the end, her favorite lines were “hurry up” and “let’s go.
Livia is survived by 2 sons: Dennis R. Dugan of Reston, VA and Patrick R. Dugan of Ooltewah, TN; and a daughter, Denise P. A. Erbal, of Lancaster. A devout Catholic, she led her children by example and always believed in us. We’ll miss her advice and comforting words. She was our best critic but strongest supporter. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister.
Lee attained her 70th wedding anniversary milestone then slipped away minutes later. To ensure her “Love Story” ends happily ever after, Robert has been “reassigned” from Florida National Veterans Cemetery to be reunited with his bride, here in Pennsylvania, where it all began. They will be buried simultaneously, together forever.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, with the Rev. Dan Powell as Celebrant. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions in Livia’s memory may be made to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Inc., 1117 Country Club Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or to Manheim Twp. Ambulance Asso., 1820 Municipal Dr., Lancaster, PA 17601.
Her family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers, love and support from neighbors and friends. They wish to thank Lee’s Visiting Angels (Randi, Gladys, Jeanette, Lisa), Compassionate Care aides, nurses, chaplains (Marie, Linda), the staff at Signature Senior Living (Stephanie, Sarah, Joanka, Lori, Alicia, Victoria, Olivia, Edwin) and Deacon Mike (Kathy) and John who regularly visited to pray with us and dispense Holy Communion.
Loving and kind in all her ways,
Upright and just to the end of her days;
Sincere and true, in her heart and mind,
Beautiful memories, she left behind.

Being there for your Mother as you were, is a beautiful tribute of the love you had for her. And bringing your parents together, for their final rest goes above and beyond that as well. God bless and comfort you and your family. May you have peace in knowing your parents are smiling with pride, for their wonderful daughter.

I miss my visits with my little Sicilian lady, Miss Liv (as I called her). She was my little spitfire, full of life, loving and kind. She loved her Philly cheesesteaks, onion rings and coke without ice. Loved our time together and am a better person for knowing her. I have complete assurance knowing she is with our Lord and Savior in heaven. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with her children at this time.
Sincerely, Randi M.

Denise, What a beautiful obituary. I never had the pleasure of meeting your Mom but I feel I got to know her a little by reading this obituary. Your parents certainly can be proud of the special daughter you are in doing everything for them, even reuniting them at the end. Prayers and thoughts to you and your family during this sad time.
