Loretta Chure, 96
February 08, 2025
Loretta Chure, 96, of Lancaster passed away at her home on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Stead and Sarah Stead (George). Loretta was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband, Daniel Chure, spent 76 beautiful years together.
Originally from Dickson City PA, Loretta moved to New Jersey following her marriage to Daniel in 1949, where she lived for 40 years until moving to Lancaster. She was an avid fan of garage sales, jigsaw puzzles, and her morning crosswords. She also loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas. Her loved ones were everything to her, and if there was a family gathering, you could guarantee Loretta was present, remarking that she could “catch up on sleep another day.” She will be remembered for her resilience, kind-heartedness, and her ability to crack a good joke, no matter the circumstances.
She is survived by her husband Daniel; children Dan Chure Jr. (husband of Lorraine), Debbie DenBleyker (wife of the late Kenneth), and Paulette Sciscento (wife of Tom); grandchildren Tom “Tommy” Sciscento, David DenBleyker, and Griffin Chure; and great-grandchildren Brooke, Michael, and David. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Matthew, and her 8 siblings.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 4PM to 7PM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Family invites guests to a funeral service the following day on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11AM with visitation prior from 1030 to 11am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest following service at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loretta’s honor to St. Judes at www.stjude.org, the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org, or Tomorrows Children’s Fund at www.tcfkid.org.

Mom, I will cherish the times we spent together. Our hours of talking, reminiscing your childhood, your vintage recipes, and your humor. You made the best of everything and lived the day to its fullest. Thank you for teaching me so much, you are a great example of a mother. Love Paulette

Uncle Dan, cousins Debbie, Paulette, and Danny – If I could describe your mom in just a few words, they would be sweet, caring, and compassionate. But even those words do not do her justice. Those last few times I spoke to her, she always talked about how proud she was of her family – and that says a lot about you. My thoughts are with you; I know how much this hurts. But I also know she is with her sisters and brothers, and probably drinking a cup of coffee and sharing a joke with them. Rest in peace, Aunt Lorraine. Eileen
