Louise Bowie Gerow, 100

March 14, 2025

Louise Bowie Gerow, 100, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025. Born in Grove City, she was the daughter of Raymond R. and Josephine (Thompson) Bowie. She was also the loving wife of G. Howell Gerow for over 50 years.

Louise received two master’s degrees, one at Wheaton college in 1946 and another at the University of Pennsylvania in 1982. She served as a missionary in Brazil and then was a professor at the Bucks County Community College for 15 years. She loved nature, dogs, Maine, and learning new things. Her missionary work was incredibly important to her – she took great pride in being able to serve her Lord and teach his word to children at Sunday School. She found Jesus on July 18, 1939, and her faith never wavered since then.

Louise is survived by her 3 children: Charles R. Gerow, Richard L. Gerow, and Barbara Kindon; 7 grandchildren: Briann Seidler (Joe), Michael Colson, Kaitlyn Colson, Joseph Kindon (Jessica), Eric Gerow, AJ Gerow, and Stephanie Gerow; 4 great-grandchildren: Kylee, Joey, Harper, Chase, and Alethia Louise due in April; sisters Ann Bobo and Debbie Resing (Chris); and her best friend Virginia “Ginny”. She was preceded in death by her brothers Richard and Larry.

Friends and family will be welcomed on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 10-11AM at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A memorial service will follow at 11AM. Interment will be held at a later date at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Louise’s name to Samaritan’s Purse, or to the Calvary Chapel Central Bucks Building Fund at 150 E. Butler Ave, Chalfont, PA 18914.

It was a blessing to know, and to learn from Louise.  We left our fallen Parish in Camden Maine, looking for direction from the Lord. She was a great comfort and guidence fo rme at the time.  I met Barbara at the time. I am so sorry for your loss, and praise God for our deliverance at the same time.  Grace and Peace.  Rick McLaughlin

I loved you Aunt Louise. You were a wise counselor,  a knowledgeable teacher, a faithful friend and a great coffee maker. I am where I am today because you shared God’s standard for making decisions with me. See you soon.

Though I only had the pleasure of meeting Louise once, she impressed me so very much.  I was often a 3rd party to Barbara’s nightly phone calls to her mom.  I know how mighty her faith was, and it humbled me that although she hardly knew me, she ALWAYS remembered me in prayer.  My heart goes out to Barbara and the entire family as they grieve her earthly loss.  May God comfort you all in the days ahead and give you strength and allow you to find peace in the knowledge that she is resting in our Father’s arms.

Dear Charles, Barbara, Rick and Ginny,
I am so sorry for your loss. Louise was an amazing woman in many ways.  She could always be depended on for prayers which have been very much appreciated. Knowing her for so many years she became like family. Although I only saw her a few times a year, I will miss her when I visit on Harvest Drive.  However, I know she was ready to go to her Heavenly home and she is in perfect health and able to see now. She is at peace.

aUNT Louise was an amazing person. So knowlegable she could converse about any subject and she was always spot on…….in the mid 1960s she diagnosed my mothers illness as “Thyroid” and as the doctor medicated mom it changed her life……..our family was so thrilled at Louise help in the matter. Love and prayers to the family and may GOd bless all of them.
