Lourene P. Reynolds, 85
March 20, 2024
Lourene P. Reynolds, age 85, passed away on March 20, 2024, at Landis Homes Healthcare. Born in Waterbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Irene E. (Sullivan) Prendergast.
Lourene’s compassionate and serving spirit led her to a career in healthcare. She earned her RN at St. Mary’s Nursing school in Waterbury, CT, then graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Nursing. Her passion to minister to others shone brightly throughout her career in nursing, later finding her true calling as a Hospice nurse. In retirement she continued to make a meaningful impact as a bereavement counselor. Lourene’s dedication to serving others extended beyond her professional life as she and her husband, Chuck, team volunteered as compassionate care counselors at Penn Medicine/LGH.
A devoted member of the Catholic Church, Lourene valued her faith serving in a variety of roles throughout her life, including as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound. Lourene carried her volunteer spirit into disaster relief efforts after Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy.
Along with her husband of almost 60 years, Charles J. “Chuck” Reynolds; Lourene is also survived by her beloved four sons: Bill Reynolds (Carolyn), Daniel Reynolds (Dana), Martin Reynolds (Alina) and Sean Reynolds (Cheri); her cherished nine grandchildren: Chris, Megan, Caitlin, Sara, Emily, Gabriel, Rowan, Christian, and Hannah as well as her beloved sister: Mary Beth Prendergast. Her love for her family was unwavering and will always be remembered as a loving mother and “Nanarene” to her grandchildren.
Lourene treasured active, engaging, fun times with her family. Favorite memories include family camping trips everywhere from New England to Florida to Tennessee; braving the cold snows of New England for downhill skiing; and sharing beach time with family and friends at the Jersey shore. Lourene, of first-generation Irish descent, felt blessed to travel to Ireland with Chuck and her sons, to connect with all the extended Irish family.
