Madeline M. Kopanski, 78

May 06, 2016

Madeline M. Kopanski, 78, of Lititz, PA, went to our Heavenly Father and Lord on May 6, 2016, after a brief illness. Born on December 23, 1937, she was a daughter of Mary (Raytik) Staneski of Denver, PA and the late Stanley Staneski. She was the loving wife of the late Chester J. Kopanski, who passed in April 2012, with whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Madeline was a 1955 graduate and salutatorian of St. Agnes High School in West Chester PA, and a 1959 graduate of West Chester University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education.

Madeline spent 15 years teaching in the West Chester, PA school system. In 1974, her husband and she purchased Spring Gulch Resort, in New Holland, PA., which they built into a nationally renowned vacation destination. In 1992, they purchased Mill Bridge Village which they operated for 5 years. Madeline loved the hospitality industry, along with growing her businesses to include her children and their families. Madeline and her husband retired in 1999, to travel and spend time at their beach home.

Mimi’s greatest love was her family, and spending time with her four grandchildren. She will fondly be remembered as a vibrant influence in their lives… She was a talented pianist, enjoyed bridge, and traveling, and will be missed by the many students, employees, friends and family, whose lives she so uniquely touched. Her endless energy will be fondly remembered by all that knew her.

She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Madeline is survived by her daughter, Mary married to Rick Casselbury of Lititz, and her son, Brian J. married to Kristine Kopan of Lititz, and by her 4 grandchildren: Julia and Blaise Casselbury and Andrew and Taylor Kopan.
She is also survived by her mother, Mary Staneski, and three siblings … Lillian Cornett, wife of Joseph Cornett, Vero Beach Florida; Elaine Jackson, wife of Joseph Jackson West Chester, PA, and by her brother, Stanley Staneski Jr, husband of Cynthia Staneski. She will also be missed by extended family and numerous friends and colleagues.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on May 20, 2016 at 11:00AM from St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, PA 17603. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 9:00-10:30 am at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike Lititz, PA 17543. Condolences to the Family

June 19, 2016

19 June 2016
Dear family of Madeline, being a friend of Madeline all the way back to St. Agnes High School I was very saddened to hear of her passing. Thanks to social media (Facebook) on June 18 I discovered the sad news. I feel fortunate to have found her after many years of not knowing her whereabouts and travelled to see her twice from California within the last 2 years. Our  recent time together was special in that we were able to recall and share special memories of the past. She was the same beautiful, caring, person I had always known when we met again. I will miss seeing her when I travel East again to see my family in September.
My special condolences to her family, some of which I have known in the distant past and some of whom I have recently met. I will have her remembered in Mass in my church here in California.

I have a tremendous work ethic thanks to both Madeline and Chet.  I have fond memories of growing as a teenager into a young lady.  I am sad to hear of Madeline’s passing.  I wish I was able to attend the services.  My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.  May the memories bring comfort and peace.
