Marcia Harris-Murph, 60

Marcia Harris-Murph, 60, of Lancaster, entered eternal rest, May 2, 2023, at the Penn State- St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Claude J. and Lizzie M. Harris. She cherished 30 years of marriage and 38 years of countless memories with her lifelong partner and best friend, Kevin Murph.

She was a beacon of light and hope for the many lives she touched. While living in Brooklyn, she became an early childhood education teacher where she would begin her life’s journey of bringing out the best in her students. After moving to Lancaster, she served 10 years with the YMCA and an additional 10 years with the Community Action Program.

Marcia’s life and spirit revolved around her family. Her love will live on in her husband Kevin; their children, Kevin Murph, Jr. of New York, Joshua W. Murph, Duvone J. Murph, husband of Kristina, Kenny S. Murph, Kiasim M. Murph, and Marquise Murph, all of Lancaster; grandchildren who affectionately called her “Mamaw”, Treasure, Janiyah, Duvone Jr., Kevin III, Naziah, Jiven, Nakari, and Marquise Jr.; siblings, Lizzie Williams, Jeanne L. Marcus, Gloria Harris, Steven Harris, Travis Harris, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her brothers, John “Claude” Harris, Jerome Harris, and Lenny Harris.

The family will receive guests on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 10 AM to 11 AM for a viewing at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602, with a service following at 11 AM. Memorial contributions in Marcia’s name may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
