Margaret L. Lefever, 89

Margaret L. Lefever, 89, formerly of Strasburg, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at Susquehanna Health & Wellness Center with her family by her side.

Born in Paradise Township, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Leah (McGuigan) Probst. Margaret graduated from the former Paradise High School, and she worked in the cafeteria at Lampeter-Strasburg High School for many years.

Margaret shared 57 years of marriage with her husband Willis C. “Bill” Lefever, Jr. before his passing in 2013. They were both life members of Strasburg Fire Company, with Margaret serving as president of the Ladies Auxiliary and as head cook in the kitchen.

She enjoyed making quilts, growing her zinnia flowers, listening to Bluegrass music, and attending Farm Women Society #22 events. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s U.M. Church in Paradise.

Margaret’s family includes her daughter, Treva A. Kilby (Tim) of Quarryville, son Mark S. Lefever of Strasburg, five grandchildren, Andrew Kilby, Emily Futcher (Jason), Amy Simon (Jeff), Ashley Traveras (Jhonatan), and Amber Hess (Andy), eleven great-grandchildren, Ava and Ally Kilby, Melody, Jacob, and Zeke Futcher, Landon, Luke, and Chloe Simon, Gabby and Lilly Traveras, and Adien Hess. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was predeceased by her son David Lefever, her great-grandson Logan Simon, and her sisters Norma Shenberger and Darlene Hard.

A visitation will take place 10 to 11 am, followed by the funeral at 11 am with Pastor Mark Mentzer officiating on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Bachman Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 7 S. Decatur St, Strasburg, PA 17579. Interment in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.
