Margaret L. McDonnell, 26

Margaret L. McDonnell, who celebrated her 90th birthday of Christmas Day, passed away at her home on Sunday December, 26, 2010.She was the wife of the late Theodore A. McDonnell, who passed away in 1976. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Mary L. Fritsch Becker.

Margaret was a long-time member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.  She enjoyed volunteering at the Sacred Heart School for its Hot lunch Program. She worked for Widder Brothers Silk Mill for 34 years and subsequently at the Watt and Shand Department Store, retiring after fifteen-plus years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Catholic Beneficial League, Saint Rita Council #12.

Margaret loved football and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.

She was a 1938 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School.

Margaret was preceded in death by her two loving sisters, Doris M. Baker in 1997 and Ruth E. Consylman in 2008. She is survived by a nephew Jim Baker of Lancaster, son of the late Doris and Grover Baker; Colleen Steckervetz of Lancaster, Kathleen Hinerdeer of Leola, and Bill Consylman of Toney, AL, daughters and son of the late Ruth and Kerwin Consylman and their respective families.

Friends will be received at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Monday, January 3, 2010 from 10-1030AM,with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at1030AM, the Rev . Arokia Swamy Samson as Celebrant.  Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sacred Heart of Jesus  Catholic Church.
