Marion L. Levandowski, 88

August 8, 1936 - September 28, 2024

Marion L. Levandowski, 88, entered eternal rest on September 28, 2024, at St. Anne’s Retirement Community, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 8, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Dennis J. “Jack” and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Lee. She was the devoted wife of Edward R. “Ed” Levandowski for 60 years until his passing last year.

As a young woman, Marion worked as an executive secretary with an impressive typing speed of 90 wpm. Her resume included a stint at the UN in Washington, D.C. and a position at the dental clinic at James Connally AFB in Waco, TX, where she met a young Lieutenant named Ed Levandowski who would become her husband just 6 months after meeting.

As a wife and mother, Marion’s life revolved around her family and her faith. A devout Catholic, she and Ed raised their family in the Church. They were longtime parishioners at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, where Marion participated in Bible studies and other activities. She was an avid reader of religious and spiritual literature. Marion was a published author of two books and several magazine articles. Her first book, “On the Palm of His Hand,” was published in 1988, followed by “Of Moose and Miracles” in 2002. The many articles she wrote revolved around themes of faith and the joys of motherhood, most significantly a piece about the miraculous birth of her daughter Katie which was published in “Good Housekeeping” magazine in 1982. She and Ed were also speakers in various pro-life organizations.

Throughout her life, Marion extended the love of Christ to family, friends and strangers by welcoming people into her home when they needed a place to live, as well as by regularly visiting shut-ins and nursing home residents who were lonely and neglected. Most admirably, Marion brought her mother into her home and lovingly cared for her for several years before she passed. She found great joy in hosting and entertaining others, and spending time with her friends. She treasured her friendships and maintained them throughout her life, making it a point to stay in contact as often as she could. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Scrabble and playing Bridge.

Her love will live on in her daughters, Ellen L. Brettnacher, wife of Jeffrey, of Murphy, TX; Mary E. “Liz” Baak of Lancaster, and Kathleen A. “Katie” Kiley of Landisville; grandchildren, Megan Schubert, wife of Austin, of Denton, TX; Andrew, Stephen, and Sarah Baak of PA, and Anna and Julia Kiley of PA, as well as her brothers, Richard W. Lee (Nancy) of Miami, FL, and Laurence O. Lee (Caroline) of Bel Air, MD. She was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband Ed, their son Stephen, and three of her brothers and sisters-in-law: Col. James W. Lee (Jeanne), William J. Lee (Romayne), and Patrick F. Lee (Patricia).

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, from 6 PM – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 4, 2024, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601, at 11 AM, with the Rev. John E. Deegan, OSA, as celebrant. The family will receive guests at the church from 10 AM until Mass. Interment to follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Following the burial, guests are welcome to join the family for a reception back at St. Leo in the Parish Hall.
