Marnie Houck, 41, of Lancaster, PA, passed away peacefully at home in the comfort of her loved ones on Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
She was the wife of James Houck, with whom she shared 13 years of marriage this past June 1st.

Her faith, family and friends were the most important things in her life. A member of the Worship Center, she was very involved in several mothers’ groups in many different churches in the area. A true people person, she enjoyed being around others and was well-loved by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, James, and her mother, Marnie is survived by her children: Joshua and Zoey of Lancaster, and Ashley Houck of Delaware; her siblings James married to Alicia Gallagher of Downingtown, Anthony married to Terri Gallagher and Michael Gallagher, both of Havertown, and by her in-laws, Thomas and Linda Houck of Delaware. She was also a loving aunt to Gabrielle, Rachael, Katie, Mckenzie, Patrick, and Emily.
Friends will be greeted on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 11AM to 12 Noon at the Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601, with the Celebration of her life to follow at 12Noon, Pastor Bryce Taylor officiating. Marnie was my big sister of the big sister/big brother program of Philadelphia. She was a special part in my life at one point of time. I lost contact with her when I was 15. I am just learning of her passing while trying to get back in contact with her. I can’t stop crying. Wow. Rip Marnie. I never forgot about you.

I met Marnie, wen my daughter was 2 yrs old, she’s now 12. Marnie was everything to me. Wen i learned bout her death, i cudn’t breathe. I cried for two weeks straight. The pain was unbearable. But, a months before she died, her and Jim let my fiance Ryan and I live with them. I was, and still am thankful for that help that they provided us. Now, knowing her one yr anniversary of her death is coming up. January 6th, 2016…im sic to my stomach. Tears r already flowing. U don’t understand how much she ment to me. She was everything, a very good friend, u knew that I cud rely on, and talk to, and even complain to. She made me laugh, wen i was down, she raised me up. Marnie, i miss you like crazy girl. U were a BIG part of my life. I love you and miss you so much. Josh and zozo, r ok. I promise u. Miss you. Love Sarah and Ryan

I only knew Marnie casually having met at a Mom’s group, Time Out, Strasburg Mennonite Church.
When I was in her compay, I saw a beautiful, spirited woman full of life and love. I saw her during the praise at a Vacation Bible School. She proudly stood with the other parents waiting for the conclusion. Her manner and her eyes were full of passion for her children. We got to pray another time while I sat waiting for my Granddaughter last summer at Mellinger Church. Her zeal for life was apparant and her zeal for everlasting life showed in her peaceful manner. I’m sure she was torn; but her love and assurance of her life with Jesus was apparant.
My prayers are with you, James, young Joshua and Zoey and family as you grieve the loss of your wife, mother and daughter. I ask God for His peace and comfort to fall as you go through this time of loss.
In His Love, Elizabeth Leach and Veronica Blount of Encounter Church, Quarryville.
