Mary Jane “MJ” Siddons, 77
February 23, 2025
Mary Jane “MJ” Siddons, 77, of Lancaster, graduated to glory on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, to the late Edward J. and Winifred (Fowler) Crawford, Mary Jane was the loving wife of the late David E. Siddons with whom she shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in December of 2021.
At age 13, Mary Jane, along with her immediate family, moved to the United States, but remained proud of her Canadian heritage and extended Canadian family, often flying the Canadian flag at her home. She was a 1965 graduate of the former Glen Cove Christian Academy in Glen Cove, ME. She met her future husband, David, while both lived in Rhode Island.
She and David – the eldest son of Westminster Presbyterian Church’s founding pastor, Rev. Wilbur A. R. Siddons – moved to Lancaster in 1975 and settled in Manheim Township where she raised her family and remained for most of her life, save for a 5-year period (1985-1990) while living in Delaware due to her husband’s job relocation. Mary Jane loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA) for nearly 45 years, serving as a deaconess, signing in the senior choir, and in many other aspects of the ministry.
Mary Jane was as a dental assistant with the late Dr. Paul Belser and most recently with Dr. Stephen Dotter, retiring in 2019. In her free time, Mary Jane enjoyed gardening, running (often running 5 miles a day), music, spending time at the beach, and hosting friends and family in her home.
Family was everything to her. After retirement, she was able to spend quality time with her granddaughters whom she deeply loved.
The family would like to thank those who dedicated themselves to Mary Jane’s care during the last 2 years – the nursing staff at Calvary Homes, the nursing staff on “Eshleman Run” (4th Floor) of Trillium Place, and the nurses at Hospice and Community Care.
She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Siddons of Newport Beach, CA, and Karen Conner, wife of Eric, of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Ella and Kyla; a sister-in-law, Pam, and nephew, Matthew; and numerous cousins and extended family in Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, and brother, Paul Crawford.
Family and friends will be received beginning at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike. A celebration of life with Rev. Dr. Chris Walker officiating will follow 12:00 PM with an internment thereafter in Westminster’s adjacent cemetery. The funeral service will also be live streamed via www.westpca.com.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Jane’s memory may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
