Mary N. Lupoli, 77

August 28, 2024

Mary N. Lupoli, 77, of Lititz, PA, and formerly of Staten Island, NY, passed away near her home in Lititz, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Mary shared 57 wonderful years with her husband Vincent P. Lupoli, Sr.

Born in Staten Island, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Vera (DiVincenzo) Figurelli. Mary graduated from St. Joseph Hill Academy and earned her bachelor’s in psychology from the College of Staten Island. She worked for the NYPD for 24 years fulfilling many administrative roles.

Mary and Vincent worshipped at El-Bethel Assembly of God in Staten Island for many years. They enjoyed vacationing to Lancaster County, going to places like Kitchen Kettle and shopping for Christmas gifts. They moved to Lancaster County 11 years ago and retired in the quaint town of Lititz, PA. She loved books; she was an avid reader of God’s Word, fiction novels, American History, and daily devotionals, and she loved the smell of a new book. Mary also enjoyed researching the family ancestry and their personal history. She had an excellent memory, was a great writer and storyteller, and she had an eloquent speaking voice. Mary was very smart and had a quick wit about her.

Mary adored Teddy Bears, especially Winnie-the-Pooh. She played the piano early on in life and enjoyed worship and Christmas music. Fall was certainly her favorite season with the nice weather, beautiful foliage, and wonderful scents of the season.

Most important to Mary was her family. A wonderful and loving homemaker, she enjoyed decorating and cooking for the Holidays. Mary was the heart of her family, and she always put others’ needs before her own. Her kindness and generous spirit extended beyond her family and included several close friends who are like family, both locally in PA as well as lifelong friends in NY, and beyond. She leaves behind a legacy of faith in Christ, joy in great times, joy and perseverance in the midst of hardship, generosity to her family, friends and ministries around the world, and ultimately the love that still shines bright in the eyes of her children and grandchildren. She was truly a one-of-a-kind friend, mother and wife, and she will be terribly missed.

In addition to her husband Vincent, Mary’s family includes their five children, Anita M. Warner (wife of Glenn), Teresa M. Gomez (wife of Guillermo), Molly M. Lupoli, Vincent P. Lupoli, Jr. (husband of Joani), and Joseph M. Lupoli. She has nine grandchildren; Gianna, Isabella, Ariana, Vinnie, Christian, Sofia, Chloe, Joshua, and Miles; and her older brother, Victor Figurelli of Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Figurelli.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a contribution in Mary’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) or to A Gift of Time (P.O. Box 427, Georgetown, TX 78627). A Gift of Time is a dementia-related non-profit organization that helps to make a positive impact to those with memory loss and their caregivers. Mary’s late sister-in law, Camille Figurelli (wife of Victor), was afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease late in her life, and this organization offers support to those like her and caregivers as an “adult day center”.

Mary, the world is at a loss now that you’re gone.  You were one of the kindest people I have come to know.
Mary was my Commanding Officer at the NYPD.  I knew as soon as we met, she was special. She was kind, funny, loves the smell of paper and getting herself a few books.  I could hear with Mary saying, “some people sniff glue, you, sniff paper”.  She would crack up. She had a beautiful penmanship-which is a lost art.
Mary you always had a kind, thoughtful word for me.  You were a work-mom to me and I valued your opinion. I’m sorry I have not been in touch for too long, but I will not forget you.

To Vinny, and the rest of Mary’s family. I can’t imagine your loss, but she’ll always be close in your hearts.
Blessings!

My Cousin Mary Nancy….words cannot begin to describe this beautiful human being, inside and out.  The last time I saw Mary Nancy and her husband Vinnie, was at the funeral of my brother Joseph and then later on Joe’s wife Rosemary.  There is a bright light that has always shown from this caring, loving and remarkable woman.  It is unfortunate that we have not kept in touch over the past years.  When we did, always promising to keep in touch, but alas, never really doing it.  I sincerely wish that we had.  Much love has always been there from the many days Mary and I played together with my cousins Michael and Frankie, along with her brother Joseph.  Those memories are etched in my heart forever.  Mary’s father was a shoemake on Staten Island and the times going into her father’s shop and driving him crazy is a memory I have always cherished and its just because they were great days.  Sleep in Peace sweet lady and say hi from me to the other family members, quite a number of them, that I miss them and will definitely see them again.

Mary was a wonderful neighbor and friend to my mom, Phyllis, in Lititz. While mom was still in her apartment, Mary and Vinny were an extra set of eyes. She didn’t need to be, but knew that mom had some health issues. I just remember Mary and Vinnie always taking time to talk to mom as she was sitting outside. Mary was such a kind and thoughtful person. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May her memory be eternal.

There are no words anyone can say to take away your grief ! You will forever want to talk to her,  ask her a question, hear her laugh .  That will never leave you but the wonderful memories are there with you too and your wonderful mother is at peace. Our prayers and sympathy are with you from the Olexey family 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I will forever treasure memories of tea and milk at Mary’s dining room table surrounded by holiday decorations, quaint country style knickknacks tastefully place throughout her home and the familiar E.B.C.A. crowd. Her melodic voice still rings clearly, the reason, I’m sure, she was selected to narrate holiday presentations in church…a truly beautiful soul and she’ll be sorely missed.  DA

There are no words that are adequate to describe the virtues of this special lady. I have not seen her in ten years, but we kept in touch regularly via telephone and text. The courage she displayed these last almost three years facing one medical issue after another was amazing. She always expressed the belief that around the corner would be progress. Her voice was always calm and soothing.
Mary was my kid sister–we’re twelve years apart. When she got to the point that I could take her around the neighborhood in her carraige or stroller, I proudly wheeled her around our gritty neignborhood showing her off to my friends as if I was her proud parent. That bond never broke even when we became separated by distance.
In recent months she enjoyed (maybe tolerated) the pictures of my 1st great-grandchild I texted her. And over the last two years, she enjoyed the conference calls  with our two older cousins (explaining Zoom to our them became an exercise in futility). We talked about our being the last of the 1st generation Figurellis just this past Saturday. Little did we realze that a few days later, she woud leave us.
I will miss our phone calls and reminiscences of the days past. May she hold the place in Heaven she so richly deserves. Vic Figurelli

I will always remember Mary for her talent for writing, and how beautifully and eloquently she would read aloud her poems and stories. She was soft spoken, but her words were full of truth and wisdom. Mary was a woman of faith, a blessing and inspiration to all who knew her.

Aunt Mary was the best of the best. She had a keen wit, was always sharp as a tack, and had kind words for everyone that she encountered. She never forgot your birthday and sent me a card every year. Her penmanship was impeccable, and she was creative, loving and good-natured.
I will miss the periodic chats we would have on the phone, talking about everything from politics, work, family and everything inbetween. But most of all, I will miss her wonderful spirit and kindness.
She was one of a kind. May she rest in eternal peace.
Joe Figurelli
