April 27, 2024

Maurice L. “Mouse” Blose, Jr., 78, of Lititz, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Born in Lewistown, PA, he was the son of the late Maurice L. Blose, Sr. and Helen (Stewart) Eyster. He was the husband of Marychelly-Ann (Hinon) Blose.

Maurice was a 1969 graduate of Shippensburg University having earned his Master’s degree in education. He was a beloved figure of the Warwick community where he spent 42 years of his life shaping young minds as a teacher. His life was a testament to the dedication, passion, and love for both education and sports. He was a coach, mentor, and advocate for athletic excellence. From wresting to tennis, volleyball to soccer, Maurice poured his energy and enthusiasm into coaching various sports teams with the Warwick School District. He was an avid collector of high school football tickets. He served as the audio-visual coordinator at Warwick for many years. He was a prominent figure in the teacher’s organization, serving as president for two years. Outside of his professional life, Maurice found joy in travel, with a particular fondness for the beautiful beaches of the Philippines. He enjoyed spending time fishing. He especially loved taking his dog, Bruno on their daily car rides together.

Maurice is survived by his wife, Marychelly-Ann Blose; his children, Matthew (Kiersten) Blose, Michael (Jeannine) Blose, and Nicholas Blose; his sister, Monica (Jerrie) Swartz; and seven grandchildren.

Saddened to learn of the loss of Maurice. Will remember his impish grin when we shared a before school duty. Maurice in his chair chuckling and chiding me for being too serious.  Will always see that grin when remembering the one of a kind Maurice. Condolences to the family.

I’m sad to hear of Mr. Blose’s passing. I will never forget our field trip to Philly for a Phillies game. School buses full of teenagers, piling out to stand in line for cheesesteaks…every single one of us paying for them in Sacajawea dollars. I ran into him a few times since high school, and he was always noticeably enjoying life. He was surely one of a kind. RIP, sir. I hope you get to look down at the Phillies winning it all this year.

Mr. Blose, Warwick Teacher, was proud he was from Lewistown. After college, I took a job in the Lewistown area. I’ve been here for almost 37 years! I read his lovely tribute in the Lewistown Sentinel today.

Mr Blose was a teacher and friend. After becoming a Police Officer in Lititz I would always stop and listen to him and Mr Mac (McIntyer going at who was the best pro baseball and football players. I will miss his smile and his friendship. Thank you for a lot of laughter and good times.

I am so sorry to learn of Maurice’s death. We had lunch in Manila exactly one month ago, and he was enjoying his extended visit. He was a unique individual, about the most generous person I’ve ever known. As a social studies teacher he had tremendous insight to offer students. RIP, Maurice.
