Condolences to the Family

Having spent a good part of my life growing up in New England, with lots of extended family, I am very fortunate to have so many fond childhood memories of family gatherings with the large Mellinger side of my family in Pennsylvania. I recall some special barbeques at Uncle Merv and Aunt Dot’s home, and I remember attending Brenda’s wedding with my Mom Elaine, just to name a few. Although I had not seen Uncle Merv for quite some time I do remember him for both his warm smile and playful character. I am grateful to have known him and I celebrate his life. My condolences to Aunt Dot, Brenda, Jeffrey, Todd and to all of Uncle Merv’s family and friends. Love, Marlene Poole “The song is ended… but the melody lingers on”.

I have very fond memories of the best mailman of East Petersburg. Every summer, he would come around in his big stattion wagon and he would take us to Vacation bible school. It is a memory i will always have. He was always excited to take his local “kids”.
Very sorry to hear of this loss to your family.

I knew him via my son at the time age six…..the special soul who drove a school bus for our son on route to the New school many years ago. He loved Merv so much he sat directly behind him and wanted to invite him to his birthday party! His kindness was never forgotten!

My dear Uncle Merv…I will always remember our sweet phone conversation of just a few weeks ago. And what a joy it was to see you at Dad’s memorial “party” in April…! How I loved the baseball conversations you and I would have, about whether it would be the year for the Phillies or for my adopted team, the Washington Nationals. I distinctly remember our discussion circa 2005, when your patience had worn thin with the Phillies. You stated with considerable emphasis that you were going to start rooting for the Nats! Well, the Phillies must have heard you because a season or two later they went on their epic run of consecutive division and NL championships…and a World Series win. I will miss you, but am comforted by the thought that you are now with Dad, Mom, and Aunt Shirley. Love to Aunt Dot, Brenda, Todd, and Jeff. Allegra and Chris Leibengood
