Michael A. “Mike” Connors, 73

February 17, 2024

Michael A. “Mike” Connors, 73 of Marietta, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Lancaster General Hospital with his family at his bedside.

Born in Upland, PA, Mike was the son of the late C. Russell & Anna H. (Rocci) Connors. Husband to Vicki A. (Spielman) Connors for 26 years.

Mike was a graduate of Chichester HS Class of 1969. Because of a deep commitment to his country, shortly after graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, following in his father’s footsteps. Mike always loved working on cars and because of this skill he became a jet engine mechanic for the USAF.  After spending two tours in Viet Nam he was stationed in the Philippine Islands. Eventually he returned to the states and was stationed at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas.  Mike had a passion for serving others and after receiving his discharge from the Armed Forces he spent many more years in the Air Force Reserves.  He spent 24 years of his professional life at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and was happy to eventually retire.

He was a proud member of the VFW Post #4480 and The American Legion Post #0945. He loved cars, collecting coins and most of all World War II memorabilia. Among his many hobbies, Mike found joy in crafting airplane models. He was also a talented baker and cook. He was an avid reader and you seldom saw Mike without a book in his hand. One thing Mike loved was a good BBQ gathering with friends and family and was always on the outlook for the next one. He was a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. One of Mike’s greatest pleasures was the yearly trip to Myrtle Beach with his family. He cherished his family and his two faithful canine companions, Chloe and Ace. Mike’s presence brought warmth and light to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike is survived by his wife, Vicki; his children, Juanita Connors-Smoker, Jennifer Connors-Peoples, and John Connors; his step-daughter, Michele Shorb; his brother, R. Wayne (Paula) Connors; his sister, Carol Ann Connors-McCall; his 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Friends and family will be received from 1PM to 2PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A memorial service will follow beginning at 2PM. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to the Vietnam Veterans of American (https://vva.org/donate/), the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (https://www.lls.org/), or to the Purple Heart Foundation (https://purpleheartfoundation.org/donations/).

Condolences to the Family

March 21, 2024

I worked with Mike’s daughter and son, Juanita and John.  They both are such kind and funny people.  They talked about their father often.  My prayers are with all of Mike’s family.

So sad to hear of Mike’s passing. My heart felt condolences to his Wife,  Brother Wayne, Sister Carol, and his entire family.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.  I grew up, and lived next door to him and his family for 22 yrs. in Twin Oaks, Pa.  I fondly remember his dry sence of humor and witt.

I was really sorry to hear about Mike’s passing.  He really was a nice guy. He could  come up with things you didn’t know to take him serious or not, but he did make you laugh. I know you will be missed Mike.
