Michael W. Cuskey, Jr., 95

Michael W. Cuskey, Jr., Rehoboth, DE, formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away peacefully at Beebe Hospital surrounded by his family on September 19, 2014. He was 95 years old. Michael was the son of the late Michael W. Cuskey, Sr. and Catherine E. Wilent Cuskey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Ethel H. Taylor Cuskey; siblings Marguerite Cuskey, Catherine “Kay” Cuskey and Robert Cuskey; and his daughters Colleen Anne Cuskey and Rosemary L. Fulmer.
He is survived by the following children: Elaine J. Maley and Marguerite L. “Molly”, wife of Nelson Splain both of Lancaster, PA, Catherine W. “Kitty” Sidler of Elverson, PA, Mary E. McBride of Rehoboth, DE, and Michael W. Cuskey, III of Ephrata, PA. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren.
Michael enjoyed being with his family, playing golf and watching the Phillies. He formerly owned and operated the Landisville Tavern in Landisville, PA, which was converted into The Sycamore Inn. Prior to that, he was engaged in the Insurance and Real Estate Business. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Michael graduated from Villanova University and was a long standing season basketball ticket holder.
In the past Michael served as a volunteer for St. Joseph Hospital, Lancaster, PA, Beebe Memorial Hospital, Lewes, DE and St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, DE. He was nominated for the Jefferson Award for Volunteers while at St. Francis. Michael was very proud serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Wilmington, DE.
Michael’s family expresses their sincere appreciation to their sister Mary McBride and her daughter Tonya Morris for the love and care they gave to their father.

The Funeral Mass will be held 12 PM Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA 17603. A Visitation will take place 11 am to 12 PM on Wednesday at the church. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to your local SPCA.
