Miriam A. Plack, 71
February 22, 2025
Miriam Anne Plack of Lancaster went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early hours of Saturday, February 22, 2025 after a brief illness. She was 71 years old.
She was born the daughter of James and Mary Naomi (Gority) Wolf in Harrisburg, PA. She was later adopted by her stepfather, Stanley Murphy. She is predeceased by all of them and by her half-brother Boyd Murphy. She was a 1971 graduate of Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown, PA
Miriam loved children, and especially had a heart for those with special needs. For many years, she was a paraeducator with IU13, and most recently was a substitute. Her hobbies included gardening, caring for animals (especially cats), photography, and playing guitar.
Miriam enjoyed genealogical research and was proud to have traced her family lineage back through the American Revolution. She celebrated God in nature, always growing flowers or vegetables, and feeding all of the creatures, especially cats, in her yard.
She was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Millersville, PA. Throughout her life, she served in a variety of children’s ministries, including Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, and vacation Bible school programs.
Miriam is survived by her sister Suzanne Gority Wolf of Perkasie and brother William Murphy (Jeannine Engel) of East Greenville; and her four children: Amy (Gregory) Marr of South Grafton, MA; James Stephen, Jr. (Misgun Solomon) of Mountville; Joshua (Celeste Reeb) of Conway, AR; and Timothy S. of Lancaster; and her four grandchildren: Ainsley, Caitlin, Eliana, and Adoniram.
Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church of Millersville, 121 Walnut Hill Rd., Millersville, PA. Visitation hours will be Monday, March 3, 2025 from 6:30-8:00 pm and Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 10:30-11:30 am, with funeral services immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to care for her son: https://gofund.me/1596db35.

Miriam and I had a lot in common. We both loved our sons very much and we both loved the Lord. The times we spent together were fun and I will never forget her. I pray that the Lord draws close to Timmy and that many special people and moments come into his life. That is what Miriam would have wanted. God bless her soul.

To the family and loved ones of Miss Miriam,
We will miss her very much at school. She helped us a lot. She was very kind to us. We will miss her smile and how she always had compliments for us. She was proud of us and she always let us know that.
Love from her students at Penn Manor High School
