Nay Andrew “ANDY” Carrillo, 65
July 18, 2024
Nay Andrew “ANDY” Carrillo, husband of Elizabeth for 45 years, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Originally from West New York, NJ, Andy was the son of Elba (Villalona) & Louis Carrillo.
Andy was a big kid at heart and a loving dad and grandfather. When his girls were babies, he would race home to hold and spend time with them. He traveled to Australia three times to visit newborn grandchildren. He loved his children and grandchildren and recognized how unique they each were.
Sharing his fathering heart beyond the borders of his own home, cousins, neighbors and friends were be-friended and loved, often forging enduring relationships. This often went hand in hand with his love of sports. Playing wiffle ball (back in the 80’s), in basketball leagues, or keeping up with the NBA, NFL and MLB were often connection points for these bonds.
Andy loved people. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people wherever he was. Over the years, it seemed like no matter where he would go, he’d always get a “Hey, Andy!” from one direction or another. Once, hours away from home on a boardwalk, he was surprised to be greeted by an old work friend. He’d say, “I never forget a face.” Which was true! (But not always true of names.)
His wife often called him a “big softie”. He was the kind of guy who would help anyone out if he could. It seemed like he was attuned to finding people he could help – at a gas station, in a parking lot, out to eat, wherever. And he wanted to help, any way he could. Sometimes people took advantage of his kindness – but let it be known, Andy did not hold a grudge. He forgave you, with or without your apology. He always felt that God would take care of him.
A proud business owner, for 17 years he owned and operated Signature One Building Services, which he felt was a godsend. It afforded him the opportunity to create jobs and provide quality service to businesses. He took a genuine interest in and appreciation for his employees.
Andy had eyes to see what could be. For many years, alongside his other jobs, Andy operated Andy’s Home Improvements: “Don’t Move, Improve!” He built, fixed, replaced, renovated or remodeled many homes across Lancaster County and city. To take something old and breathe new life into it was his passion. To walk into a dump with child-like wonder and excitement and have a vision for what it could be and the determination to see it through – that’s what he loved.
He was an animated storyteller with great tales from his childhood, work experiences (including extermination and plumbing), and everyday life. But his favorite stories were of how he would ride his bicycle across the George Washington Bridge in a tiny leather jacket to see the most beautiful girl in the world. He told of how the guys in the neighborhood would tell him, “Andy, you can’t handle that,” hoping to dissuade him from pursuing the beauty. He was unwavering.
His kindness prevailed. She loved him for his kindness. And she was the greatest love of his life. They wed, moved to Lancaster Pennsylvania and welcomed three daughters into their lives, building many memories.
Andy was a dreamer, an optimist, and a lover of life. He was a lover of Elizabeth’s cooking. And he was greatly loved. He will be most remembered for his kindness, generosity and happy-go-lucky personality.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, three daughters, Lisette, wife of Robin Volpi; Christine, wife of Richard Merrill; Nicole, engaged to David Sengkeo; six grandchildren, Liyana, Scarlet, Josephine, Olivia, Auriella, and Ignacio. Also, two sisters, Eve Cabbell and Harriet Carrillo. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Brother Louis Carrillo Jr, Sisters Milagros Trocchia and Fior D. Calderon.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz PA 17543.

Mrs. Liz, girls, and family, I am so very sorry to read this news! I met Andy when we worked together at the Horst Group many years ago. I think of you guys every time I drove down Oregon Pike. He was such a good man who will be sorely missed. I’m sad I am seeing this news late and missed his memorial service but he will never be forgotten. May God bless and keep you all.

I would have liked to come to Andy’s service today, but have 2 other events over that time unfortunately. I want to convey my deepest symthathies to you, Liz and the whole family. He certainly played a big rule in our church, while you all attended. I pray God’s richest blessings on each and every one of you. Liz and family,
My sincerest sympathy for the loss of Andy. I only knew him for a week meeting in the pool in Aruba and knew instantly that he was a kind and fun loving man. The love that shined for you Liz was so sweet to witness. He went out of his way to make sure my sister and I were included and having fun. I am honored to have met him and also you Liz, you will always be a part of my wonderful memories of that week. Love Mary Lynn from Pittsburgh
