Norman Seidman, 90

October 15, 2023

Norman Seidman, 90, of Lancaster, passed away October 15, 2023. Born in NY, he was the son of the late Ben and Mary Seidman. He was married 64 years to Rita Seidman.

Norman received a bachelor’s degree from CUNY (City University of New York) in chemical engineering. He also passed his test for the professional engineer license. He had taken graduate courses in chemistry at F&M. Norman worked for RCA, GE, and retired from Burle Industries. He also served in the US Navy. In his younger years, he enjoyed staying active by swimming, playing tennis, golf, softball, and taking walks. For many years, a family tradition was a two week vacation each July. Most years the vacation was a beach-related vacation, but always included at least one museum due to his love of history. More recently, Norman enjoyed reading about history or biographies.

In addition to his wife Rita, Norman is survived by 2 sons: Professor Mordechai Seidman (Yocheved) and Glen Seidman, M.D.; grandchildren: Yosef Yitzchak Seidman, Elliot Seidman, and Hannah Seidman; and brother Stanley Seidman (Dr. Francesca Giancotto-Seidman).

Services will be Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 12 PM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will immediately follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s name can be made to Center for Advanced Engineering Design and Development, ccny.cuny.edu/giving, or the charity of your choice.

My deepest condolences goes out to my friend Rita and the entire Seidman family.  I met Rita and Norman over 30 years ago when I moved to Lancaster from New York.  I have been friends with Rita and Norman for a long time.
