Pablo Nuñez Rivera, 82

January 15, 2024

Pablo Nuñez Rivera, 82, of Lancaster, went into the arms of the Lord on January 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Ceferino Nuñez Rivera and Presvistera Rivera Nuñez.

While living in Puerto Rico, he worked as a coffee harvester. In the 1960’s he began visiting and working around Lancaster County, until emigrating to the US with his family and then wife, Leila Nuñez, and 5 children in 1971. He will be remembered for his many years working at Weavers Poultry, Buck Iron and finally Conestoga View in maintenance, until he retired. A long time member of First Spanish Assembly of God in Lancaster, he was honored to be an active member with the church and volunteer as a groundskeeper.

He enjoyed tinkering around and “fixing” cars, fishing, playing dominoes, cards, and having weekend outings with his family. He was a fanatic of watching professional wrestling, cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies, and watching westerns.

He will be sorely missed by his children: Maribel Castro, wife of Pedro, of Ephrata, Marilyn Brooks, wife of George of Lancaster, Evelyn R. Wilson, wife of Gary, of Lancaster, Pablo Rivera, Jr., husband of Carmen Mercado of East Petersburg, Mildred N. Rivera of Ephrata, Pablo Rivera II, husband of Jacqueline of Ephrata, Yadira Rivera of Lancaster, and Victoria Ciji Rivera of Puerto Rico; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and siblings: Rosa Rivera Nuñez, Marta Rivera Nuñez, and Daisy Rivera Nuñez. Pablo was preceded in passing by his parents, and siblings: Carmelo Rivera, Angelica Rivera, Esther Rivera, Alicia Rivera, Teresa Rivera, Margarita Rivera, Fela Rivera, and Paubla Rivera.

A Funeral Service honoring Pablo will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the First Spanish Assembly of God Church, 626 S. Duke St. Lancaster, PA 17602 at 11 AM. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.

Condolences to the Family

My dear family I am so sorry for your loss!  Our hearts go out to you as well as our thoughts and prayers. Our family is so big it is amazing seeing the pictures.  From the pictures I could see how much love there was for Pablo. He is now with God, resting in peace and no longer suffering. He is now with all the family gone before him, reuniting, and one day we will all meet once again in heaven. Rest in Peace Pablo!
