Pastor Morton W. Caffey
Matthew 25:21 – His master replied, “Well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share in your Master’s happiness”. These words were spoken as Pastor Morton W. Caffey ran into the arms of Jesus on October 10, 2017. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness.
Morton was the loving husband of Astrid (Brill) Caffey, for 62 years. He was a wonderful father to Jeff D. Caffey, married to Robin, and Shari L. Miller, married to Keith.
He was a devoted “Pappy” to Arielle (Caffey) Dunkle, married to Jonathan and Bree Taryn Caffey who preceded him in death.
He had the privilege of being “great grand Pappy” to Cohen J. Dunkle and Taryn Scout Dunkle.
He was a pastor in the United Methodist Church for 40 years and served in a number of churches in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. He also served as the director of the Rawlinsville Camp Meeting. After he retired he continued to serve the Lord as a Visitation Pastor for the Hempfield United Methodist Church.
Mort also served as a tour guide for many years and he and Astrid had the privilege of traveling all over the world.
His family would like to thank the Care Ministry of Hempfield UMC, Hospice and Community Care and Home Instead for all the wonderful care and support they provided.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend Mort’s life celebration service Saturday much as I would have liked to do so. I coordinate confirmation for Lititz UMC and we have a field trip that day. But please accept my condolences. I remember Mort with gratitude for his faithful service on this District, especially while I was its District Superintendent. May the hope we share in Christ sustain you in the days ahead. Grace and Peace, Rev. Larry D. Leister.
