Paul R. Halbig, 84

Paul R. Halbig, 84, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Herman Joseph and Bertha (Rineer) Halbig. He was the loving husband of Janet (Kissinger) Halbig for more than 45 years.
After graduating from McCaskey High School in 1949 he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served aboard the Coast Guard cutters Mesquite, Jonquil and Ingham as a quartermaster signalman during the Korean War.
Paul retired from UGI Corp. with 41 years of service.
He was an avid softball player and was a member of the UGI Industrial League team that won 5 straight Industrial League champs and 2nd place state champs in 1958.
Paul was a member of the American Legion Post #34 and the Navy Club, USA.
He served as a past vice president the International Management council affiliated with the YMCA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rev. Timothy Paul Halbig husband of Krista of Abington, Christopher Lee Halbig of State College and a daughter, Deborah Allman wife of Norris of Mt. Joy. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane McFarland.
Friends will be received from 10:30-11AM followed by a funeral service at 11AM on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will follow in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Paul’s memory to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Dr, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
